Meditated StatesParticipantBrown looks like a much better player already. Did the Lakers choose wrong, yes or no? WHY?

kobyzParticipantBrown would have been perfect fit next to ball…

theballerwayParticipantIm an Brown supporter but I think Ingrams length just adds that much more to his potential. He finishedlast season really well. Ball/Hill should help him get better looks and find him on cuts so I think he fits well too. Both ahve great 2 way potential though.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantIngram needs to get tougher and have confidence..

SlickBouncePassParticipantshoot I was debating Ingram vs. Simmons, because he was and still is very skilled.
But NBA requires a man’s body. Jaylen Brown has that. And his development is coming along nicely.
So to play in the NBA and be elite, you must have the body and strength to handle all the impact.
There was a question whether Steph Curry had that body early in his career due to all his injuries but he has developed.
Ingram right now is weak. His length is a great asset and he is skilled, but guys like Lebron don’t even think twice about taking him into the paint.
So while Ingram’s body is developing at a slower pace, Brown is coming around nicely on the skillset.
In the NBA, the stronger guys get the rebounds. Right now, you gotta go Brown, and I did not expect that.

MopgrassParticipantIngram is plenty tough. But he does need more strength. Toughness and strength are very different things. It’s really hard to make someone tougher. Strength just takes time and dedication (both of which Ingram has). We’ll see what he can do with that frame.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI think the Celtics should of drafted Chriss.

Bankroll PJParticipantJaylen Brown looked very good last night, so I won’t take that away from him. However, he didn’t make me think of him as a better prospect. Most of points came via "bully ball" where he made plays because he’s the best athlete on the court. Those type of plays don’t always translate to NBA games. His offensive skillset still looks limited to straight line drives with a little of mid post game. We knew before the draft last year that Jaylen Brown was much more NBA ready than Ingram and that has showed itself. Ingram showed some promise down the stretch last year after a somewhat disappointing season. His offensive skillset and length still make me believe he’s the better prospect. And although, he did not shoot the ball better than Brown last year, I do believe he’s the better shooter. We should find out for sure if the Lakers chose wrong or not after this year, because Lonzo Ball should be able to get Ingram many open looks. As of now, I think the Lakers made the right choice.
P.S. Jayson Tatum looked very good last night as well. I’m a fan of JB and was happy to hear than he and Tatum are getting along, but Tatum looks like the better prospect of the two wing forwards.

publius2481ParticipantThis is a tough one. I like both players as prospects, so I do not think any team is wrong to have either of them. Brown is physically better developed at this point, so I think he will be the better player next season. Long term, I think Brown will be the better defensive player. He has a high basketball IQ and physically he has a good combination of strength and quickness to be a top notch defensive player, especially in today’s NBA when switching is vital. However, Ingram I think is the better offensive player long term. I like his shooting better. I think he will become a good to great three point shooter, while I can never see Brown being more than an average three point shooter. Ingram has more offensive moves and while Brown is improving in this area, I doubt he will catch up to Ingram in terms of offensive skills. Long term, I think I would still take Ingram over Brown (and I am a Celtics fan, so my bias should be towards Brown). With his length, I think Ingram can develop into a good defender (not as good as Brown) and he has the skills to be a great offensive player. Brown I think can develop into a great defender and a good (although somewhat limited) offensive player. I tend to favor offense in prospects, so I have to go with Ingram. Both are good prospects that will be important for their teams going forward.

BeastMode716Participantagainst a bunch of guys who will never set foot in the NBA
Ingram & Brown will both be good Pro’s but I don’t think either will be Star players

EndlessknightParticipantGuys it was one summer league game. You’re reading to much into it.
Ingram is a year younger than Brown and I’m still convinced he will be the better player.

BeastMode716Participantit was not even the numbers he put up. For me it was his Basketball IQ looks like he experienced an Exponential growth last year
And that Really says a Lot about the Celtics organization & their ability to develop young talent.
We all remember last summer. Those of us who are Lakers fans were not only Praying we’d be in the Top 3 so we could Keep our pick but according to just about Every NBA / NCAA expert 2016 was considered a Two player Draft.
Just about everyone had Simmons #1 & Ingram #2 but after that it was anyone’s guess. We all knew Jaylen Brown possessed remarkable Raw athleticism which gave him a decided edge on Ingram. But Ingram’s extraordinary length & a beautifully polished all around game made BI a coveted prospect.
Many considered Brown a "project" b/c his game was Very raw. He made a Lot of Mistakes in Basic basketball situations.Brown’s fundamentals needed a Lot of work. Some scouting sites had Brown ranked as low as #10 in what was considered a very weak draft.
I know Brown was playing With & Against some Very young, very raw & even low level basketball players last night but he looked a Lot like D’Angelo Russell did in last year’s Summer League opener – which is to say he looked like a Man playing with Boys.
I Still have a Lot of Faith in Brandon Ingram but I also think that Jaylen Brown deserves a Lot of Credit b/c he has Clearly worked his nutz off improving his game & it showed.

Memphis MadnessParticipantBrown was impressive. Looks like a good off-the-bench wing scorer who can slash and get to the basket.
I wanna see what Ingram does in summer league. Will tell me a lot. Should be one of the best upside guys in SL and he is a second year guy. I can see Lonzo getting him some good looks, too.
… Brown looks like a secondary scoring option.
Ingram looks like that, too.
Depends on what your team needs.
To be fair, I liked what I saw in that game with Tatum/Brown, not so much with Fultz (where are the intangibles and leadership skills?), SO, I will tell you guys what I think after I watch Ingram this weekend. I wanna see the versatility, the length, scoring, creating, ball handling, rebounding, shooting, and defense. That is what they NEED from him, even if the Lakers basically gave Lonzo Ball the keys.
First impressions will be big for Lonzo, too.
With Lonzo I wanna see the intangibles, leadership, ball handling, passing, solid defense/rebounding, some scoring and 3 point shooting. Need to get a bunch of wins, too.
Stats wise? No reason why Ingram can’t get 18, 7, 3, 2, and 2. Tatum-type stats. Lonzo should get you 15, 8 assists, 5 boards, 3 steals, and a block.
