could get to the free throw line? he put up 43 tonight and i’d say about 99.9% of his shots were jumpers. he’s such a good athlete and can attack, but he seems hesitant to drive to the basket. as a wizards fan, i’m not complaining at all because if the shot is falling keep taking it, but if he could round his offensive game out it would be pretty scary to think about the numbers he could be putting up.

That is what separates scorers from shooters, when shooters shots don’t fall they are basically nonexistent and don’t really do much else unless they are an all around player but a scorer when his shot isn’t falling, can get to the rim/free throw line and find other ways to score the basketball. Nick Young has been playing good as of late but has been inconsistent because when his shot isn’t falling, he doesn’t do much else, he just needs more confidence to be able to get to the rim and once he does that he will become a more complete offensive threat

i was saying the same thing there was a couple of droughts in there when he missed a couple of shots that gave the kings a chance to comeback and they did… though he made his shots tonight he probably wont be doing this night in night out because he couldve just a easily drove the ball with a pumpfake and get a easy layup/dunk… i guess its that built in court vision that he doesnt have if he could develop it it would be nice but he probably wont kinda like *cough cough*  ray allen… when he makes his shots his team wins when he goes for like 4-18 theyre probably losing

he has always had the talent to be a starter..he just needed to start playing consistently, something he’s doing this year…but he also must continue working on other parts of his game….

I’d like to see Young drive more too. He has some big-time moves he can execute off the dribble, sometimes he makes moves that you’ll only seethe elite guys like Kobe or Melo pull off (and I’m not exaggerating). Young sporadically shows it, but he has an AWESOME 1st step as well. Right now, he’s lighting up the scoreboard, but he’s not as well-rounded as he’ll need to be, despite having some prodigious scoring skills

Exactly, that’s my issue with Nick. I really liked his game coming out of college, terrific mid-range game equiped with a mid post turn around money j. He’s been in the league now for what, 4 years. Still hasn’t developed any other part of his game besides the jumper. Hell, even J.R. Smith at least learned how to find an open man or get a rebound. Nick young has a 40 inch vert with a shade under 7ft wingspan, yet the man can only pull down 2 boards a game. Still 43 points in 43 minutes is a great thing especially given it was on jumpers. But as I’ve posted prior concerning Nick, I think he’s a 6th man super scoring sub, until he can round out the rest of his game. Still has good potential.
