Im so tired of soft centers.
Up until now I have been fairly impartial about who the Kings will end up drafting because not only does what I want have no effect on the overall outcome of the draft but also because I do not want to get my hopes up, but I have to say the I am incredibly fed up with soft centers, and I'm not talking about candy...
After having to look at Brad Miller and Spencer Hawes fail to keep up with anyone who has a little weight to go along with their 7 foot frame I think it’s time the Kings actually go for a player whose main selling point is that he can be a dominate low post center, not that he is a great passer that could maybe be a legit center. I am tired of seeing people listed at the five who end up passing the ball whenever they get it, or end up shooting a jump shot instead of using their post moves to dominate the paint. Who knows if Monroe will end up a great player is the Kings select him, but I have noticed that a lot of centers with potential tend to be overrated when it comes to the draft, and I do not want the Kings falling in love with someone who ends up to soft to play their expected position. I guess I could be wrong, I was pissed when the Kings passed on Rubio to take Evans and look how that turned out for them, but I am just starting to feel like Cousins is the correct pick for the Kings and I am hoping they see it that way to.
do u think monroe is soft or naw.
I think that he reminds me of so many centers that I have seen the Kings interested in who turned out to be soft.
I'm with you on that one. The NBA has become a perimeter game, and a wimpy game. Steal my points all you want, but it is true. There are so few Centers in the NBA nowadays that can actually control a game. I can name 3 that can legitamately be franchise Centers. There are way too many 6'11 shooting guards in the league. Its a shame.
Agreed soft centers are lame, they need to get weight on them. Like Bargnani, Nowitski, Okur, P. Gasol at some times. Thats why i think Montijunas will be a bust. And i do think Monroe could go either way right now. I like him so i hope he turns out to be a solid post. And I wish the T-Wolves would have gotten Tyreke so badly. Rubio will be a bust. i know it.
there are few that can control a game i agree, Howard, Bynum(can if healthy), i think Oden will if healthy, Shaq back in the day, Duncan.
You think Motiejunas will be a bust because he's like Gasol, Nowitzki, Bargnani, and Okur? Sounds like pretty good company to me. There's nothing wrong with being a tall perimeter player, it's just that you need a defensive center to play alongside them. You named guys who aren't true centers, they're just tall forwards.
I'm right with you man I'm a big Kings, and I'm TERRIFIED that they will pass up on Cousins, who is a perfect fit. With his talent the Kings should be ecstatic that he might be there to draft. Instead I hear they are thinking about Monroe. WTF!!!!!
Monroe might be a fine player, but I don't see him being the dominant post presence that Cousins will be. 15 and 10 in 20 minutes come one now. Don't overthink it Petrie, take the big fella.
Most people knock him for his attitude, I say screw that I want my center to have a mean streak. Like you say, i'm sick and tired of seeing all these soft ass centers playing for my team. We need a banger, not a finesse player. We have that in Hawes.
