I'm just putting this out there....
Honestly I don't know I want to believe its not rigged but there are some major coincidences
I think it is not rigged, but I can see the arguments that is it. I guess I am not a big conspiracy theory guy. I cant see how they could get away with it in this day & age.
Yes, Yes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX1kMlG8c7Y), and Probably Yes.
Even when D-Rose was coming out of college the Bulls had a 1.2% (I think) chance of winning the lottery and they did. This move ultimately brought them out of their slump
Also to add, when the Wizards had the whole entire fiasco with Arenas they also won the lottery
And to add with the Irving pick, Dan Gilbert sent his son (who is mentally challenged if I'm not mistakened) and they win the lottery
AND it's done behind closed doors.
I will believe it's rigged if Minny's pick becomes #1. They'll barely miss the playoffs, but will have like a 1.5% chance of the number 1, if NO gets a couple lucky bounces, than they could end up with Davis and MKG.
Mark my words, the Hornets will win the lottery.
David Stern needs a future for the team in order for him to sell it. For example, if the Hornets get the first pick. They will choose Anthony Davis and he will their new franchise changer which would ultimately boost the team's value and make them look more appealing to buy.
My money is on the nets winning the lottery. Deron Williams is most likely leaving and the Nets are opening a new arena next year in Brooklyn. No way Stern let's them open up the arena with no type of superstar to give the NY people reason to go to that new venu
I will believe it's rigged if Minny's pick becomes #1. They'll barely miss the playoffs, but will have like a 1.5% chance of the number 1, if NO gets a couple lucky bounces, than they could end up with Davis and MKG.
Especially since in the whole Timberwolves history we have NEVER once moved up in the lottery. We have only stayed the same or we move down. Pretty sure we had the worst record the year Shaq entered the draft, but we moved down. I could go on and on. The lottery has always been a dark day for me........
I got dibs on the Suns winning the lottery, I would love to see Anthony Davis run the floor for them if Steve Nash comes back.
Although I do believe it is rigged, here enlies the problem. We are pretty much saying that no matter what happens with the lottery, we will think its rigged. I heard the T'Wolves, Bobcats, Hornets, and Nets all mentioned in possibly winning because it is rigged. This means that no matter what, we are going to be able to draw some theory of it being rigged for every single team. But that does not mean it isn't rigged. Just means that we will never be able to tell it is rigged for certain, and even if it wasn't rigged, we would probably still think it is. Lose lose situation so I guess whatever the teams are, might as well just enjoy the amazing athletes playing the game of basketball.
Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins would be scary as hell. That has probably a 10-15% chance of happening, maybe more, but I would love to see that happen, Davis with John Wall would be the perfect big-small duo for the next decade, but the thought of Cousins and Davis in the same frontcourt just gives me goosebumps.
The Sacramento Kings get hosed every draft some how, some way after continuously staying in the top 5 worse teams in the NBA. And I have yet to see us get a number 1 pick, or even a pick in the top 2 or 3. I think its rigged, most people won't agree with me. But I think atleast the top 3 if not all are rigged.
Dan Gilbert's son is not mentally challenged, he has Neurofibromatosis. Has absolutely nothing to do with being 'mentally challenged,' it's a nerve disorder than often times can create tumors.
Jordan or Brooklyn will get #1 this year. Either Stern will have to give the best player to Jordan since MJ obviously doesnt know how to pick one on his own or the big market team will get it in hopes of competing with the Knicks. If Timberwolves win it and Hornets get two top 4 picks like CLE did last year, Im banning the NBA. But yes there has been a pattern since the 2003 draft that makes it looked very rigged.
and Chicago and Cleveland got home town guys on less than 5% chances. When they even annouce how the system works it sounds stupid. If there was just one lottery with one set of balls then it would be fair. But from what I remember they do like 20 something lottery's and then pick one of them. There are so many teams that have new stadiums like Brooklyn and Sacramento, then you got the Hornets owned by the league. No matter what happens somebody going to be happy and somebody is going to be p!ssed off.
The Hornets should get a top 3 because they will finish with a top 3 worse record, plus they have Minny's unprotected pick. I am starting to think that DurantsWingSpan is right.
Thank you Cavs Fan for clearing that up, by the way he is a very bright kid, "whats not to love" about that!
people need to stop with the conspiracy theories. No ones cheating.
Not trying to direct this toward anybody, but I think it's funny that us that are fans of the T-Wolves, Warriors(myself), Raptors, and Kings are thinking of conspiracy theories and are sure the lotto is rigged, and the Laker fan says it's all fair, just think it's rather comical and ironic.
it has nothing to do with me being a laker fan, just realisitic. Lakers have never once drafted higher then 10th since the nba draft lotto began in 1985. Lakers have not been awarded with any "funny" draft picks. But you know what the lakers have done, they draft well. Those two times they had top 10 picks (1994 and 2005) they drafted eddie jones and andrew bynum who would become all-stars as 10th overall picks. Teams just need to learn how to draft.
Besides, there are numerous witnesses watching the balls get picked. Why would the nba risk the downfall of fixing things? I mean if they were caught it would be catastrophic. Why risk it? And look at the teams who got number 1 overall picks: toronto, washington, cleavland, san antonio, clippers, portland, orlando, milwaukee, and houston are the last 10 teams to have the top pick. It gets spread around and to markets of all sizes.
You guys are just finding coincidences
Nah I don't think it's rigged. There have been a couple of lotteries that may seem rigged (Knicks get Ewing, Bulls get Rose), but it's just random chance. Nothing rigged about it, the NBA has more to lose than gain by doing something that shady.
That's exactly it! The NBA wants to remain competitve so why not rig the lottery behind close doors so teams can have a fair chance. When was the last time a team has got the first overall pick twice?
The NBA is a business first and I'm pretty sure if Stern has been milking the Clippers for every asset they had for CP3, I'm pretty sure he'd milk this draft in order for New Orleans to get the #1 pick. He wants a buyer who will keep the Hornets in New Orleans.
but its not really behind closed doors, there are witnesses, just not the fans. And you didnt address anything else i said other then the competitive balance thing which guess what, all teams in the running for the first pick are gonna be bad usually. So the competitive balnce will come naturally.
Lol I have always thought the NBA lottery was rigged. Glad to see im not te only one that thinks this way. I too feel the Hornets will get the number one pick. I also thought earlier in the year if Dwight had went to New Jersey and the Nets had traded their pick, the Magic and Hornets would pick one and two. I think the top three will be New Orleans, New Jersey, and Charlotte.
I've always felt that the draft was rigged, but in all reality I don't really care unless a team looses out on an all world talent like Davis, Howard, or LeBron. As we've seen year after year drafting a player isn't a known commodity.
"it has nothing to do with me being a laker fan, just realisitic. Lakers have never once drafted higher then 10th since the nba draft lotto began in 1985. Lakers have not been awarded with any "funny" draft picks"
Kobe- "I'm not playing for any team but the Lakers"...kind of funny to me (and yes I know it was a trade, but it was still a draft)
Look at the Clippers:
LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS (22): 1985; 1987; 1988; 1988 (from Sacramento); 1989; 1990; 1991; 1994; 1995; 1996; 1998; 1999; 2000; 2001; 2002; 2003; 2004; 2005; 2007; 2008; 2009; 2010

That's how many times they have been in the lottery and they have only twice right?
@mcgreener, how was the lakers trading for kobe after he was picked 13th (not even lotto) shady? I mean you could say Kobe was shady for pulling that, but that has nothing to do with the league. Besides, kobe didnt come out and say that until after the lakers worked him out numerous times and trade talks were already well under way to get him to la and that was him doing his best to help get the trade to go through.
@ toronto, do you realize how hard it is to win the lotto? I mean depending on what year we're talking about, there is an average of about 12 other lotto teams the clipps had to go up against for the top pick. so you present 22 times they were in the lotto and they won it twice, or 1 out of every 11 times. Thats right on the money for average considering they are competing each time with that many other teams each lotto.
I just would like to see the Sacramento Kings win the draft for once. This would be the best one to win. I would fear DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. Definity would make the Kings very exciting to watch.
The 1985 lotto was pretty sketchy but still doesnt really prove much, just stirs up conspiracy thoughts.
I think it's stupid to have an idea of who's going to win the lottery because its all based on chance. None of us can predict the future and nobody can prove the NBA is rigged.
All we can do is hope for our teams to fair good, and see what happens.
No doubt in my mind the Hornets get the first overall pick. Bobcats go number two because Charlotte is just so garbage and the league loves Jordan. Wizards will go number three because Wall is extremely marketable and needs desperate help. Im cnfident thats the Top 3.
But the initial Paul to Lakers trade earlier this year being declined was BS. NO will be rewarded.
They have had a theme during the lottery ball show the past 2 years. The Wizards won the lottery when the show was about how the team president had died. They kept showing the wife the whole show. Then they ended up winning the lottery... hmm....
Last years theme was Gilbert's diseased boy. They kept showing him the whole show, then the Cavs somehow win the lottery with the Clips pick. David Kahn said after the show "this is rigged" That might be the thing he said I agree with.
Hey....I've got some seafront property in Arizona, anyone interested?
But you got it all wrong.
GS will finish 7th, Jazz 14th...Jazz win the lottery, draft Davis and get the 8th pick...Draft Beal.
Winner!!!!!
The Lottery was Rigged until 2007 and the nba tried to pretend like it wasnt rigged and let teams in the Pacific NorthWest got Durant and Oden....
What was rigged? game 6 western conference finals Lakers vs Kings. If it weren't for the refs the kings would have won it all that year
Let's not make things up. No ref ever announced fixing any games in the lakers kings series. Besides the poor officiating in game 6 for the lakers just made up for every bit as equal bad officiating for the kings that gave them game 5

Do you think the NBA lottery is rigged?
Remember when Stern folded that paper so the Knicks could draft Ewing and when the Cavs lost LBJ they got Irving.
If so, since the NBA owns the Hornets and are desparate to sell them, do you think the Hornets will win the lottery this year?
