because John Wall deserves another high caliber player before getting stuck in mediocrity.
Yup that has worked out for Tyreke Evans and the kings. After his great rookie year, they've drafted Demarcus Cousins, Jimmer Fredette and Thomas Robinson. Oh wait, they're still a bad team. No, the wizards should be absolutely sick they are this bad, even without John Wall. There is nobody they can draft to make that a good team. I don't know if it is the wrong coach or if the front office is bad but they shouldn't be as bad as they are.
And it is spelled, "losing."
To be fair I think Evans is the problem and also Jimmer was a bad choice
I feel ya. The main point I was making is that a bunch of good draft picks doesn't mean anything if there isn't the right leadership in the front office, coaching staff and lineup.
The front office AND coach are bad...Ernie Grunfeld and Randy Wittman will not have jobs when this season is over
This draft doesn't look that good to me, to be losing like this straight out of the box.
They are clearly tanking. Not a single player on the team is averaging 30 minutes per game. That's a classic indicator. Let everyone play, start a bunch of different guys, but don't put your team in a position to win by playing your best players big minutes.
Dont forget they have Randy Wittman as their head coach. Thats a classic sign of tanking.
To me the minutes distribution looks like a Coach trying to tinker to make up for injuries and to hopefully save his job. It's not like anybody on that team has been playing well, so he's mixing and matching, trying to find the right combination.
Just look at the make up of the roster. It looks like a bunch of parts, but not a team. Okafor and Ariza are vets who were supposed to be stabilizing players, yet they've been awful. Vesely's a project who is so bad that it's hard to find him enough developmental minutes for him. AJ Price probably shouldn't be on an NBA roster. Jordan Crawford thinks he's good enough to carry the load offensively whenever he's in the game but he's not. Beal started off ok, then fell on his face. They have a couple of other younger players (Singleton and Booker) who the Wiz are still trying to figure out if they're part of the core going forward. The 2 best players so far on that team have probably been Kevin Seraphim, who is promising but still raw, and Martell Webster, who on a better team is a bench player. I think once they have their full complement of players thay'll start to trim the fat and there will eventually be a more traditional minutes distribution.
For a post I made a while back about Lebron's departure from Cleveland, I did some research on that team and the minutes distribution was very similar. They had injuries, yes, but they had a disproportionate amount of guys logging 16-20 mpg, much like Washington. I could be wrong, but there are a lot of similarities.
The reason no one is playing 30+ minutes is because no one on the team is good enough to play those type of minutes. AJ Price...back up turned starter...good in spurts terrible over time, Beal still going through rookie growing pains, Ariza inconsistent on both ends to say the least, Nene has a 20 minute limit until his foot gets better...the list goes on and on...
It sucks but as soon as they lost John Wall they didn't have a choice except to tank. They'll get another high pick and hopefully they'll be pretty decent in 3 years.
Don't forget their franchise player is injured, and their second best player is battling plantar fascitis. I wouldn't say they are tanking, I honestly just think they built a team around two players in Wall and Nene, and neither of them have been 100% yet. I honestly had high hopes for this team, they seem to have all the pieces they need, but whether it's bad coaching (seems like it's a factor) or just bad luck, they haven't been able to produce. That said, it's still very early in the season, and a healthy Wall could still put them in the playoff picture.
Wall wont be staying around DC when free agency comes.
Wall never wanted to be a Wizard. He wanted BKN to when that lottery but stern is a crook and gave it to the Wiz.
With that said Wall is going to be the Lakers next GREAT point guard.
That is all sorts of crazy what your saying.
