Was watching FSU in the tourney the other week and noticed that the Seminoles have a player named Obiagu who only plays about 10 minutes per game, but despite this, averages 2.1 blocks per game. Any FSU followers who can shed light on why he doesn’t play more given his defensive ability? Also, is he at all considered to be an NBA prospect in the coming years?

Is that 2.1 blocks per 40 or per game? If it’s the latter, that’s nuts.

Per game. I had to do a double take too, it’s such a wild stat that you immediately start asking questions.

Haha, yeah, that’s pretty crazy. That’s like when Has been Tabeet played for the Rockets he averaged something insane like 17 blocks per 36 minutes. Obviously unsustainable, but still pretty damn impressive.

"Has been Tabeet" wasn’t me trying to be clever, it was just a super applicable autocorrect by my phone.

Haha, yeah. Didn’t even catch it ’til I checked back in to respond. Apparently Androids know basketball.

Ike Obiagu and Udoka Azubuike both look to be so much bigger and longer than anyone they share the court with this year. Both guys made Bagley and Carter look small. The Duke guys handled them just fine, but they did look really small in comparison. That said, with Obiagu and Azubuike, it doesn’t take a lot of watching to see how raw and inexperienced they are. It will be interesting to see where they are a year from now. I don’t think anyone will expect a transformation of their game, but I would not have guessed Gorgui Dieng would have made the leaps he did each year he was at Louisville. Certainly, even if they only get beyond being a walking foul they will see their minutes grow.
