so what do you guys think of ucla freshman big man ike anigbogu? He entered his name but has not hired an agent. this site has him at 36th,  dx at 18th and chad ford has him at 19th in their respective mocks. There is of course the chance he returns for his sophomore season which is what im pulling for as a bruin fan. But if he stays i defenitely think he goes first round based on raw potential alone.

He is 6-10 250 and already has an nba physique. He is also much younger then anybody currently projected as afirst rounder. He is a whole 18 months younger then fellow bruin freshman teammate tj leaf and he wont turn 19 until the upcoming nba preseason is wrapping up.

This past season he came off the bench and got inconsistent minutes averaging 13mpg on the year and put up 4.7ppg…4rpg…1.2blcks…56%fg

He fumbled a lot pf passes and is far from a guy you would trust running any kind of play for. But he also showed strong aggressive moves with drop steps jump hooks showing he has the mentality of a guy who wants to use his size and dominate. I watched about 90% of ucla games this past year and i think he held his own physically with everyone.

Biggest knock was that he fumbled away lots of quality passes that should have been converted showing he needs to work on hs hands and he was maybe more aggressive on offense then he should have been trying to do things that werent there like going over double teams and forcing ugly plays or attempting wide open 15 footers which were not in his reptoire causing alford to pull him from the game. Still with all that said i think he could have been utilized a little more then he was just for his defense alone since that was the bruins weakness.

Guys with less potential have been drafted in the first round.

He would benefit greatly from returning to college for another year.  He would just sit on the bench in the NBA.

Portland have those multiple first rounders so could take him as a long term prospect perhaps. at 20 or 26. The Spurs at 29 could be a good place for him to go and learn the ropes on a winning team.

I dont have any problem with him testing the waters and getting feedback from NBA personnel which is what he is likely doing but if he hires an agent Id say its a mistake. The NBA is not the best place for raw players to go unless a team has certain intwntions to invest everything into developing you. We see alot of players make the jump on false pretences to have unsuccessful careers.

Ike Anigbogu is still very raw and has a long way to go before he is a complete player mentally or physicallly. He is very long and agile but what really stands out about him is his combination of length and stength/thickness. He has a strong core to go along with his length and athletisism which you dont often see. This makes him a very rare prospect.

He is very undisciplined and foul prone. Like another high risk prospect Harry Giles he averaged about 7 fouls per 36 minutes and roughly 2 fouls per block.

Lacks much footwork or touch and has a problem catching the ball. Shot below 60% free throws this year with limited attempts.

Reminds me of Pascal Siakam quite a bit but has more potential. I dont see him as a 1st round pick theres alot of work to be done here before he can even stay on an NBA court and not be a liability. With further develipment he is a lottery talent so I see no reason for him to enter this draft.

I think he’s a sleeper. Honestly, I think there is a pretty big dropoff after 8 in this draft, so I think he could come into play in the late lottery. I’d probably rank him behind Collins and Allen, but I think those three are really close to each other in terms of NBA outlook, with Patton just a sliver behind them.

Guys his size that can move like him are not a dime a dozen, and despite the need for some polish, I think if your team has the luxury of being patient, he’s a good option in the mid first round or late lottery. I think if you’re looking on the low end of his potential, he’s a defensive minded starting center, with a ceiling that is very high.

Don’t know too much about him to tell you the truth. But I agree he is not ready for the NBA and I hope he doesn’t end up hiring an agent, therefore returning to UCLA. If he does hire an agent, I think he will go mid-second to undrafted. I think he has great potential but is also very raw. He will probably spend a lot of time in the D-league regardless of where he is drafted. What are his thoughts on that? If he isn’t okay with that, then he needs to return to UCLA. I personally think this draft is very good. Not like 2003 or 1996 was, but one of the deeper drafts. Because of that he just isn’t there yet to be drafted in the lottery or even in the first round.

Was it a bad decison to enter the draft? No, he is using the draft as a testing place. To see if he’s ready. If he sees that his value is there, then he will sign with an agent, if not then he will return to UCLA. We are going to see a lot of this in the coming years. If he ends up signing with an agent then that will be a bad decision, but the decision to enter the draft was not a bad decision.

Now entering the draft and signing with an agent are two seperate decisions. (which is how it should be I think.) and more and more college players are using that to their advantage. Its a tool to see if you’re ready. mentally and physically.

He has a good nba physique to play the rim runner rim protector role that a lot of teams want.

That being said this year’s draft has like 10 unexciting center prospect like him viewed as possible picks 10-30 by some mocks. He should end up in the secound round like Ivan Raab, John Collins, Caleb Swanigan and most of these guys just because very few teams need bigs right now and they are not elite prospects. Only a few Cs should be taken in the first round and Ike will not be taken before Zach Collins, Jarrett Allen,Lauri Markannen, Isaiah Hartenstein…
