If your the cavs and you get the number 1 pick in this draft who would you take??? they have two okay PFS in Jameson and Hickson for the "future" and at the guard spot they have Sessions, Gibson, and Mo Will….they really have no real center and their Sg spot is helld by the rotation of Harris and Eyenga….if I were the cavs i would choose Perry Jones(if he comes out).  Id choose him bc his potential is crazzy and even though the cavs need a center i feel like his potential is way too high to pass up….id probably choose sullinger if he was two or three inches taller

I would be very wary of taking him first overall.  He hasn’t shown the jump shot needed to play on the wing, nor the tight handle he would need to compensate, if he is drafted first overall, and because of his mediocre b-ball iq and high center of gravity, I think he may struggle to defend NBA 3s.  On the other hand, he has not shown the rebounding ability, toughness, or helpside defense to play the 4 at the NBA level.  People criticize Anthony Randolph for not having a position, but at least Randolph can rebound and block shots.  Jones has a ton of potential, but I think it may take him a few years to develop, and most top picks tend to get called busts by fans if they struggle their first three years in the league.  It would be ideal for Jones if he was drafted by a team that did not heap expectations on him from the start.

^^ I agree with the last point you made. In a perfect world, Jones would be drafted in the mid to late portion of the lottery and given time to develop — there’s absolutely no question he possesses the talent to reach his terrific potential. Unfortunately, in a draft that is looking increasingly shallow by the day, teams are not going to be able to resist taking him early on (potentially as high as first overall), which will put a significant amount of pressure on both him and the organization. Whether or not he’s able to deal with such high expectations remains to be seen.

If I was Cleveland, I would take Kyrie Irving.

Agreed with a lot said previous. If I were Cleveland I would take Kyrie as well because Sullinger would be a nice story for Ohio but they already have Hickson who looks promising.

Irving is the only one I look at in this draft class as a Superstar. It’s a shame he got injured because with that college experience I believe he could of produced right away in the NBA.

Irving. Sessions and Gibson are solid, but arn’t going to be anything special running the point, while Irving has the potential to be just that. And with Hickson still showing flashes of being really good, I wouldn’t want to give up on him by drafting Sullinger or Willaims. Jones has a lot of potential but, for someone with the tools he has, the fact that he’s averaging 14.5 and 7 is a hufe red flag for me. For the #1 pick, I feel like there shouldn’t be any red flags.

I would take Jared Sullinger! He plays at Ohio State and I’m not sold on Hickson. He plays well a few games, then disappears the next couple games. In my opinion, the Cavs should build around a big man and Sullinger would be perfect for this team. With Jamison most likely leaving via trade, Sullinger can step in and have a large leadership role and play through his mistakes and have an easy environment to work in where he know he’ll eventually become the #1 option.

I’d take Jared Sullinger too. He is more talented than Jamison and Hickson. Jamison is old and is probably more suited to play SF, than PF. Hickson to me sounds a like a backup. The only reason why he is starting is because the Cavs have nothing better. He is athletic but he doesn’t show it every game and thats what you need to do if you start. To me he is a poor man’s Gerald Wallace in a 4’s body. If Sullinger is drafted this should be the lineup: Mo Williams/Sessions, Parker/Gibson, Jamison/Graham, Sullinger/Hickson, Varejao/Hollins. That doesn’t scream great but this year’s draft does not really have any stars just a bunch of role players. Sullnger is really the most talented of the role players. If you want to see a star player then you’ll have to wait until 2012. Then you should be able to find your true small forward to replace Jamison or your Center to replace Varejao. But for now Sullinger will have to do.

They got the 1st pick back to back years and got Perry Jones and Austin Rivers… And they got Anthony Randolph who won 6th man of the year and MIP. Jones got ROY and JJ has 20 and 7 per game . They are 2nd in the east

    PG: Mo, Ramon’

    SG: Rivers, random guy

    SF: Jones , random guy

    PF: JJ, Randolph

    C: Biedrins, Varejao

They should just do that 😉

I’d probably take Barnes, SF remains their biggest hole, and he has a defined position, plus has been playing a lot better lately. Once he gets his confidence up he’ll do a lot better, and I think the NBA style will suit him better.

Also, the fact that he needs a bit of time to develop can only be a good thing if you’re Cleveland, because nobody in this draft is going to change a franchise in a big way except possibly Kyrie, but even then, they’d be pushing for playoffs at best. If the Cavs slum it out in Barnes’ rookie year they have a SF for the future and can pair him with Rivers, Miller, Gilchrist or Davis as their talent for the future. Next year’s class isn’t reliant on a number one pick to get a great player, so the Cavs wouldn’t need to rely on the luck of back to back first round picks.

Barnes and any of those players named above would be a force to be reckoned with for the future.
