For those who believe the lottery is rigged, I got a sure fire prediction for you: Charlotte will receive the top pick next year when the Hornets return. Again, this makes clear sense only if you believe the lotto is rigged at #1. I know I will get negged by the fanboys who want to see their team get it next year in a strong draft, but oh well lol. Just look at the history of the conspiracy narrative guys. Any other teams in the running?
If it is rigged i don;t know how the Bulls got the 1st pick with 1.7%? I am sure the NBA would rather have a more balanced Competition then give the Bulls a no 1 pick. It makes no sense. Or how Magic got the top pick with less % than the Bulls to sneer C Webb. I just don't see how many many late lotto teams get the top picks and so rare the actual worst teams gets it.
This makes no sense. Having a less than 1/50 chance AND winning the first pick...AND having the obvious first pick in a large TV market...AND said player picked at number one is from the town he's playing in?? How does that not sound rigged to you? (All that being said it's sure suspicious, but I can't believe that if it was rigged it hasn't come out yet).
Ye but i know I hate it when teams are consistently on the bottom. It is terrible to watch. The NBA will get less views and less interest if they just give the top picks to teams who simply do not need them as much as others. There would be more even competition, lower teams seen traditionally as walkovers or jokes will spark interest and attention in their hometowns. It is better for the league to have even competition then one where bottom teams always are in the lotto not getting the picks they need. So I don't think they would just give top teams good picks it is just how it turns out.
Bulls got the number 1 pick because the L wanted d rose In his hometown
They wanted lebron in Cleveland
Just like wiggins will go to Toronto
I don't want to believe the lottery is rigged but if it is, Orlando would be getting the 2014 top pick. Lose a franchise player and gain Andrew Wiggins.
Again, I don't think it is but it isn't outside of the realm of possibility.
Sacramento (new owner, would bring franchise stability, etc.) is the only other possibility to me besides Charlotte.
There is cases all the time for teams to get the first pick. We look at teams that get it and find a couple of examples that fit a story which seems to be written by J.K Rolwing. We don;t look at all the times other teams got the no 1? why did Bulls get it? whyd id Wizards get it? and other teams like Portland, Toronto, bucks?
Guys, come on. If Dwight leaves and Kobe is rehabilitating next season then the Lakers are missing the playoffs and getting Wiggins, there's no chance they let him go to anyone else if it's really rigged.
Good point in general, but dwight leaving 30 million AND a big endorsement market is not likely to put it mildly. Also, if he bolts, they would sign other pieces.
If the lottery is really rigged, which I think is very easily the case, Sac will get the 1st pick this year since Stern would love giving them the first pick with no real franchise changer and stick it to them. And next year, either Toronto (if they're still that bad) or if Seattle lands a franchise, will get the 1st pick.
If the NBA is really rigged which I do believe, then Orlando will get the first pick this year. If this happens, this will be the third year in a row a franchise has lost it's superstar player and gained the number one pick. Lebron left cleveland, they got kyrie. CP3 got traded away from the Hornets, they got Anthony Davis. The Magic lose, Dwight, they will get the number one pick. It will really be something if the Suns get the second pick this year as well because they lost Steve Nash. Next year I believe Charlotte will get the number one pick. Why wouldn't the NBA allow Jordan to get Wiggins?
Any one who thinks the lottery is rigged needs to take a statistics course. Just because something has a low probability, doesn't mean it can't happen. Each team in the lottery has a chance at receiving one of the top three picks albeit with different likelihoods. Anything can happen although some things are more likely.
But obviously you can't rig it every year. But I'm sure it's just a coincidence that CLE's won the lotto when LBJ came out and the year after he left.
I'm sure it's a coincidence the same thing happened to the Bulls after Jordan left and the Wizards when Jordan came back.
Or the Ewing theory.
or that the league owned team go the top pick last year....
I don't think its rigged because each team has a representative watching in the room. I don't think a particular team would be happy if they get cheated from a top pick. Clearly somebody from the league would of brought it up by now. IMO
I don't personally believe in the fix but people from the league have brought it up before. Not by name since doing so would probably bring on a ridiculous fine but there have been grumblings in the past.
I've always been somewhat skeptical, but that skepticism will grow if Orlando (Dwight leaving) or Sacramento (obvious reasons) win the lottery this year..
I have a strong feeling Sacramento is going to win it though.
I think if Toronto gets the first pick next year then it's obviously rigged. Cleveland got to get the hometown LeBron. Chicago got D. Rose. Toronto would be getting Wiggins. I just don't see that as being a coincidence.
