The Lakers and the Knicks dont make the playoffs! If that actually happens my guess is these two teams will be in a race to get Phil Jackson.
The Lakers are obviously in a better position overall. It is my opinion though that the Lakers should undo their mistakes in the off season. Get Lamar Odom back, get Trevor Ariza back.

No one (before nbanflguy) said the Lakers wouldn’t make the playoffs, the OP just said that if the season started today they wouldn’t make the playoffs. The intent of the post was too show how surprising that is.

Three words. Kobe fucking Bryant. He won’t let his team miss the playoffs regardless. Doesn’t matter that he’s old now. He will not miss the playoffs while being a member of the Lakers from here on out.
