If the Jazz were to draft a small forward who would they grab at 9?

Let's assume something for a moment, the Jazz brass think they have some fine young talent at the 4 and 5 (milllsap, okur, kirlanko (his best position is the 4), Fesanko, Kosta Koufus, and the guy they've got in Belarus (tomic?). This probably isn't true and especially after getting beat like 4 years in a row by a much longer lakers, but let's think for a moment who they would take at number 9 if they are looking for a 3. I'm having a hard time coming up with anyone. Anyone else got ideas?

Xavier Henry, would that be like playing CJ miles at the 3.
Is Ed Davis athletic enough to guard 3's?

Honest questions, I just don't know or see it...

Maybe Al Farouq-Aminu because hes long enough to play PF and agile/athletic enough to play SF.

Agree with you mess eee,

Agree with you mess eee, Aminu hustles, defends, blocks shots and further that w/ the fact that he would be coached by Jerry Sloan... a coach who will push Al to maximize his ability and of course, effort.

Wes Johnon would also bring the shooter/defender dynamic that Utah is always looking to strengthen. I dont believe he'll fall that far though.

In this draft if Utah take a small forward they should move down to get the other guys are move up to get Johnson. I like Aminu but I still think he could take some time to be any good depending on where he goes. His potential is out of the roof but he seem more like a slasher type combo forward and Utah needs a shooter. He athleticism and length would help them though. Also Utah does not seem sold on Okur because he is too soft in the Post. I think they want to get a big man but if Johnson is there they could definitely grab him.

i doubt aminu will be there.

Do you really think aminu will drop to 9? If so, he would be the one...
Patterson seems like another millsap, good but smaller power forward...

They won't draft small forward...

Maybe if Aminu fell to ninth they might consider him (but that's doubtful).

I'm crazy about the Udoh kid from Baylor. If they don't draft him (assuming he is still on the board), they will wish they had down the road. He can flat out play.

I agree with Sheltwon.

I agree with Sheltwon. Johnson is the only 3 that really impresses me, and I won't be surprised if he's gone at #3.... so I really don't think he's going to fall all the way to #9.

Having watched the Jazz the whole year though, I'd much rather draft a 4 than a 3. I like Matthews and CJ at the wings a lot and with Ronnie B out of the way you're always going to have shooters out there (assuming we keep Korver). I'd love to see Udoh or Monroe, but more I think the best thing that could possibly happen is that Cousins gets passed by for character issues and that he falls to 9 (super unlikely but weirder things have happened). Jazz fans say, but the Jazz would never draft a player with character issues..... to that I reply, 6 words, Karl Malone, Luther Wright, Kirk Snyder.

Utah could go a number of ways..They could draft a shooting guard..Becuz Someone might overpay for Matthews..Who i think is better off coming off the bench..They really need a defensive presence..Utah might trade their pick to New Orleans for Okafor..I might be the only person that thinks Wesley Johnson will slide to The Clippers at 8 or the Jazz at 9....

Moving down

If the Jazz do decide to get a small forward, they should move down. That way they could turn their number nine pick into a small forward and something extra. A backup point perhaps. There are a number of small forward prospects projected in the mid to late first round, so I think that would be their best bet if they were to get a small forward. (i.e, Paul George, Luke Babbitt, Gordon Hayward, Damion James, etc.)

Utah

Jazz have a couple options in this order

1. Greg Monroe- Perfect for their system but he may go to LA DET or GSW
2. Xavier Henry- Another perfect guy can play right away he will be at #9
3. Ed Davis- maybe too small to pair with Millsap but a good fit as a backup
4. Cole Aldrich- they're high on him but he's like Okur without the jumper
5. Hassan Whiteside- He's a defensive big they need but they might think he's a reach
6. Paul George- My Boy right here he's THE SLEEPER in the draft whoever gets him will be happy for years to come
