Cleveland is in a unique position to come away from this draft with a boatload of talent! Here’s how I think it would work: Everyone is freaking about the Embiid injury announcement.  That puts immense pressure on Philly to give up that 10th pick along with the 3rd and T. Young. You would even give the Sixers a future conditional first to guarantee they take the deal. Then there are the reports that waiters may be on the block. I don’t know it this rumor is legit but there has been smoke to this for a year now. A perfect trade partner for a waiters deal would have to be Sacramento.  There is gonna be a really good player there at eight but Sacramento is said to want young veteran help and a need at the 2 spot. Waiters and Cousins along with Gay or Deng or another star wing could really make the kings a lot better. If you are Sacramento you make that deal with little to no hesitation.  For Cleveland it’s a little tricky. There is little chance the eighth pick is more talented than waiters BUT this is a strong lottery so your chances are a lot better. More importantly though for those of us who watch NBA championships and pay attention to games instead of highlights, we know superior team chemistry trumps talent every single time. I don’t why or if waiters and Irving can’t stand each other but if that is the case at least one of them has to go, and this trade may make both teams better. So there you have it. This scenario should definitely excite Kings and Cavs fans but the Sixers will be long term winners too if Wiggins and co. reach their potential as a lot of people think they will. Thoughts?

Obviously Wiggins. The Sixers have a hard on for him. They will end up having to give up #3 and #10 probably, if not Thad as well, because everyone knows that they arent content to settle on drafting anyone else.

Who says that ?  Have you talked to Sam Hinkie ?  Has Chad Ford ?  I’m hear to tell you I believe all the Wiggins this and that is actually a smokescreen.  For someone as secretive as Hinkie there has been way too many stories about Wiggins working out for them, being the target, topping the big board – I’m pretty sure thats just what he wants people to think

Cleveland is better by simply drafting Wiggins and calling it a day, than with any elaborate trade idea that I’ve seen yet.

Parker is the most NBA ready of almost anyone at the top of the draft.  He’s also a good character guy and I think most of us could envision him meshing well with any teammate that has a winning attitude.  Kyrie is the ONLY draft pick the Cavs hit a homerun with out of their 4 Top 4 picks they have had among Irving, Waiters, Thompson, and Bennett.  The Cavs are trying to make the playoffs NOW, in a very weak Eastern Conference, so that they can keep Kyrie in the fold.  Drafting Wiggins, whose main weaknesses appear to be that he doesn’t have the mentality to take over games and also needs to work on dribbling and shooting, would be bad for him and the Cavs with Waiters and Irving trying to both take over the team.  Not that Waiters doesn’t have talent, but you don’t want him to stifle the development of a guy you are trying to help reach elite superstar status.  Parker helps the Cavs win NOW, he’s a great teammate, he’s a great face of an organization (not that Wiggins ISN’T any of these things, but I feel more confident that Jabari IS) and he also has room to improve every year until he hit’s his prime.  With Embiid hurt, I don’t envision the 76ers getting Wiggins because Milwaukee takes whichever player is left between Wiggins and Parker.  The Cavs would be silly, IMO, to trade out of the first unless they are offered a franchise altering trade.  That doesn’t seem possible with the above proposed trade.  At a certain point, teams have to stop developing players and start winning games and the Cavs are at that point.  Jabari is of course a developmental player, but already can demand playing time and his shot anywhere he goes.

Which is Way too much to jump 2 spots, I’d honestly just wait and see what happens with Cleveland and Milwaukee on the clock…

Honestly the Cavs could still take Embiid and just bring him along slowly. They have Varejoe and Tyler Zeller at C until he’s ready.

The Bucks could take Embiid too if the Cavs take Wiggins/Parker and do the same thing as Cleveland while spotlighting Larry Sanders and Henson at C until Joel recovered

The 76ers take Embiid 3rd if Wiggins and Parker is gone and play he and Noel together when ever they’re both healthy (Big Risk here)…The 76ers could also get Vonleh back via an Embiid/Exum trade with Magic/Lakers/Kings, Randle or Gordon could easily be there guys too…

If I were the Cavs GM I’d take the chance on Embiid and I believe its the right move for all parties involved, Kyrie/Dion need a low post threat, they want to lure Lebron back home they can’t have a prospect in his spot keeping his locker warm, Cleveland has to draft Embiid #1 IMO, they cant afford to get fancy or greedy (people already hate them for winning back to back #1picks)

I think we have a better chance moving up to get the second pick from the bucks then we have getting the first pick from the cavs now.

Um the Philly part of the post has been out there in different forms for weeks so I don’t understand the reaction there (just the messenger lol). What I’m interested in is y’all’s opinion on the waiters part and the 3 lottery picks part

Waiters is worth way more than the 8th pick in this draft. Yes of course the Kings do it, but it makes little sense for the Cavaliers – especially when the best available player at that spot is likely a PF. Further you’re trading a veteran for another pick, which is opposite the stated direction of the franchise.

If wiggins is off the table and that was Phillys number one option which I do believe he is, y not draft randle at 3 or trade down a few spots and take stauskas or another shooter at 10. I do not c philly giving up so much just to get one player. This is a deep draft and we all see having a team full of players who play their roles is better than having a super athletic freaks.

the issue from the Sixers fans view is we’ve been hearing for a few weeks that 3 & 10 for 1 was too expensive, so to add Thad to the offer seems a bit much. It will be interesting to see if the Sixers now turn their attention to Exum and explore moving MCW and Thad (plus?) for another high (top 10?) pick.

Check it, if Cleve want Embid but don’t want to take him with the 1pick, then select Wiggins or Parker; and assuming they go 1 and 2. Then Embid getting selected 3rd or further down, just make a trade for him that works in your favor and if not keep your pick, its a win win situation. If the 76s wants Wiggins so bad Im sure that way Cleve can still get Embid and an additional pick from 76s.
