If Howard re-signs with the Lakers, this may be a trade they should look at especially considering how poor the starting 5 played this year.
Raptors push all their chips into the pot and try to make a run in the east and the Lakers have some nice young pieces to surround Dwight with that can shoot the 3 to keep them in contention in the post-Kobe era.
No. I don't think so. Raptors are high on Lowery. Steve Nash is old and should be nothing but a sniper off the bench for the lakers. I like only trading gasol they should honestly try to trade gasol to some in the early to mid 1st round and get someone like Schroeder.
We don't know who the raps are "high on" anymore since Colangelo was fired (about time btw). Ujiri has gone on record as saying the Raps have "some nices pieces" but there are things that "need to be corrected". To me this means trades... starting with Bargs. I have to believe getting a AAA PG is also high on the list.
I think Lowry alone has more value than Nash and Gasol.
You surround Howard with three point shooters like his days in Orlando, giving the offense the spacing needed to get Dwight the ball. Meanwhile Toronto fans will lose their minds trotting out a healthy lineup of Nash, Derozan, Gay, Gasol, Valanciunas. You could maybe even get Toronto to throw in 2014 first
Its gonna take a miracle to keep Dwight in LA. Personally, I think Houston or Atlanta would make more sense for him plus he just doesnt mesh well with Mike D'Anjabroni.
Almost the exact same trade I posted just before the trade deadline last year (only difference being Landry Fields instead of Terrence Ross).
I think it does make sense for both teams.
For Toronto they get rid of Bargnani and get a traditional big man that Jonas can learn from. They also get Nash, and even though he's old I think he would be very effective at running the Raptors offense and would make Derozan and Gay a lot more effective. Not to mention he'll be a publicity dream back in Canada. They also get rid of some contracts in Johnson and Fields (who they really only signed to a massive deal so they could block a S&T between Phoenix and NY for Nash).
For LA, they get a stretch 4 that would better compliment Howard. They also get younger and better defensively in the backcourt. And in Williams and Fields they bolster their mediocre bench.
I don't hate the concept of the trade. Lowry is a valuable player, but he's far from indispensable. The Raptors shouldn't feel bad about dealing him if it means unloading the Bargnani contract.
Like ItsDwightHoward said, I would switch Ross for Fields in this trade. The Raptors need to unload both of those bad contracts for it to be even.
What a terrible trade for the Raptors. Terrence Ross would probably be a top five pick in this draft had he stuck around for his Junior year.
