If Cole Aldrich came out this year..
you can't be serious with this one. Even though he will be a first round pick he will not be a good pro think of chris mihm.
The other bigs i would take over him are 1. Jordan Hill 2 Hasheem Thabeet 3 Jerome Jordan
If he did come out would take the three above before him and even a few more. Possibly Blair and Patterson. The only big I wouldn't take before him in the first round is BJ Mullens.
Yea he would be a lottery pick, but is he the 2nd best prospect? Nope he isnt.He may not be a starter in the NBA, and if he is he wont be worth the 2nd pick. And yes,I would DEFINITELY take him over BJ Mullens...Mullens sucks right now and probably wont get much better
why does everyone bash mullens look at thabeets numbers his frosh year he didnt start for UConn Mullens splits minutes with lauderdale its not like hes DeAndre Jordan playing 12 min a game down the stretch he plays around 22 minutes or so a game Thad Mattas not dumb and if you watch an OSU game if turner is out they run the offense through Mullens in terms of upside the only bigs on his level are Hill Griffin Thabeet and Brackins.
Everyone else mentioned in this thread is either undersized (Hill 6'8", Patterson 6'8" and Blair 6'7") or are complete underachievers (Jordan and Mullens). Aldrich is actually 6'10" with a 7' wingspan, is a good shotblocker (which none of the others are) and is a better rebounder than everyone except Blair. Chris Mihm was drafted because he was a legit 7' with touch around the basket. He was never even half the athlete Cole is (and Cole isn't even that great an athlete). Aldrich may never be an All Star but he will be a solid starter for a lot longer than Jerome Jordan is even in the league (really? a footer who can't even dominate his mid major league? sounds like Patrick O'Bryant to me). CLEARLY BJ Mullens has more talent and potential, but BJ has done nothing to indicate that he will EVER be willing to work hard or play defense. With NBA teams drafting less on potential and more on production the last couple of years, Cole Aldrich should be in the lottery mix with Jordan Hill and Greg Monroe (if he declares) but there is no way Blair, Patterson or Jordan will have a more successfull NBA career than Aldrich
usfballer,
First, Hill is definitely at least 6-foot-10. In addition, he certainly can block shots, albeit at a lower volume than Aldrich.
Second, Aldrich is a legitimate center who, yes, should be a top 20 pick. But I believe comparing him to Blair and Patterson is unfair, and I would definitely take either of them ahead of Aldrich if I had a need for a power forward.
Both Blair and Patterson are more polished in their games and should produce at a high level right away. All three players are high-level rebounders, but Blair and Patterson seem to have a better understanding of positioning.
Aldrich has the potential to be a very good player. But another year of college would suit him well. He is still very reliant on his athleticism, size and strength, which will not be advantages for him at the NBA level.
If he splits minutes with lauderdale...than he isnt ready 2 play in the league. He should be playing waaaayyy more minutes than him because he is alot more talented. This shows how hard he works
For some reason I find myself liking everyone on that Arizona team. Just thought Hill looked smaller than Taj Gibson of USC. I am so glad the NBA finally will just invite everyone to Orlando to measure in and run drills. I hate guessing people's height.
i think aldrich will be taken somewhere in the last 15 picks of the draft. I dont see him going before hill thabeet(who sucks ass) and greg monroe and patrick patterson will jus be drafted off potential. as for mullens rivals could not have been any WRONGER about someone being the 1st overall ranked player out of high school

Where would you take Aldrich if he came out (in relation to other bigs)? I'd take him over everyone not named Blake Griffin.
