My question to you all is if the Cavs do take Wiggins #1, how do they build around that? They plan to give Kyrie the max and most expect him to sign it. So do they put Wiggins at SF since they dont plan on being able to sign Deng? Do they put him at SG, and move Waiters? What free agents or big men could you see them trying trade for to fit with Wiggins and Irving?

It could either be Irving, Waiters, Wiggins, Thompson, Hawes. Thats if they dont make many changes to the roster.

New GM Griffin stated he wants to make changes and isnt happy with the way the roster fits. So could they try to offer Parsons a deal or trade for Sanders or Asik? With that they could run out a lineup of Kyrie, Wiggins, Parsons, Thompson, Asik/ Sanders. My only problem with that is the big men not being able to space the floor at all so maybe if Bennett could have a big offseason, then he would mesh well with a defensive center.

What would you guys expect to see if they do take Wiggins first?

His first summer was a disaster with the injury. He gained weight, missed training camp and summer league. He wasnt able to come in ready to play and it played a huge role in why he had such a dissapointing season. There were a few games later in the season where he showed how good he could be one day. With a good offseason he could become their starting pf, im not saying hes going to be worthy of being the top pick, but he could be a 14 and 9 guy who spaces the floor and compiments a defensive center. Ive read he has lost 15 to 20 pounds already which should help him get his athleticism back to what it was in college. In the end, this summer is HUGE for Bennett and the Cavs.

They need embiid, their interior defense is porous. Irving and waiters do nothing to stop penetration and varejao and hawes don’t scare anyone. If they were to take wiggins they would need to bring in a legit defensive big

A solid center is much harder to obtain than a SF these days. Embiid will give them rim protection they need. He hasn’t played close to a full season of anything anywhere, so it will take some time… which is fine since they have Varejao, Zeller, maybe Hawes, and sometimes Thompson.

I know everyone talks about trading Waiters because of clashes with Kyrie and he has value. I’d rather see them move Jarret Jack and Tristan Thompson. If they can get Chandler Parsons, by all means, they should get him. Then they’d need a SG who can play defense while Waiters plays the 6th man.

I think Wiggins is a SG for now. In a couple years from now, when he gets a little muscle, he can be a SF. In college, bigger players shut him down. If I’m the Cavs, I’d only take Wiggins if I thought I could keep Deng. That’d give them solid defense at the 2 and 3. Then I’d see about getting Asik or the like.

I think a line-up of Irving-Jack-Wiggins-Thompon-Hawes with Waiters, Gee, Bennett and Varejao coming off the bench could be pretty solid with time to gel.  Defense would be the issue, but that roster is irredeemably bad on defense if they get a good coach.  Thompson and Wiggins are expected to be good defenders, although there isn’t much rim protection there.

Still, I think Embiid is the BPA, so the Cavs would be better off selecting him and letting Hawes walk.  An Irving-Jack-Deng-Thompson-Embiid line-up could be nice as well.

If they take Wiggins, I’d love to trade for Paul Millsap and sign Greg Monroe. Kyrie-Waiters-Wiggins-Millsap-Monroe with Jack, Delly, Karasev, Bennett, Zeller off the bench.

His ballhandling and 3 pt. shooting aren’t there to start his career at SG.

As unrealistic as it is and sounds, the Cavs are shooting big this offseason and here is their plan:

#1 they hope Miami loses the finals which is the only way to get Lebrons attention.

If Miami loses, Lebron will opt out, and Cleveland will trade the #1 pick for Kevin Love. With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, Lebron would be smart to rejoin the Cavs and form the new super power in the east. If Lebron ultimatly choses not to come back to Cleveland, then Kevin Love will get traded from the Cavs during the deadline because he wont resign with us, obviously. Alot of gambles, but you have to try.

That would be the worst thing Cleveland can do, lebron is not opting out and going to cleveland this offseason. If the Cavs traded the pick to the wolves and ended up not keeping love and lebron doesn’t comeback, that would be the WORST thing possible.
