If BYU Makes It Into The Final Four is Jimmer Fredette A Top 10 Pick? Top 5?

Jimmer Fredette is projected to go in the 10-14 range right now which is late lottery. The way BYU is playing and how he is leading his team, if he leads them past Florida and into the Final Four after that would he be a top 10 pick? Better yet if he keeps on averaging 33 points per game, 7 assists per game, and 3 rebounds per game would he be a top five pick?

To tell you the truth, if BYU does make it into the Final Four, I believe the only team that would take the chance on Jimmer with a top five pick is the Utah Jazz. After it is all said and done I think Fredette's ceiling is the 5th pick and his floor is the 12th pick.

Don't get me wrong I like

Don't get me wrong I like Jimmer and think he can be a solid NBA point guard, but anyone drafting him in the top 5 expecting him to be a savior for their franchise may be sorely dissapointed

I can't see him being a top 5

I can't see him being a top 5 pick pretty much no matter what he does. One of Sullinger, Irving, Kanter, D.Williams, Barnes, P. Jones would have to fall out just to hit top 6 and Jimmer is not a better prospect then any of them.

Stop with all the Jimmer threads

If Utah picks Jimmer with their first pick, then they will be throwing it away. They cannot do that, if they want to make that Deron Williams trade worth something. Jimmer is a 6th man energy type player. No, I would not mind Utah picking Jimmer but only if it is with their second pick. (I still have hard time seeing Jimmer get past Butler or Wisconsin)

And these Jimmer topics need to stop. I understand it surprised everyone that they got past the Zags but seriously its getting annoying to see a Jimmer topic like 6 times in one day!

Top 10, maybe, but no way

Top 10, maybe, but no way will he be chosen in top 5. As much as I like Jimmer, I like Kemba Walker as prospect even more, I think Kemba should and will be drafted ahead of Jimmer.

As stupid as David Kahn

As stupid as David Kahn is...he would take him at #1 if he thought as highly of Jimmer as he does Darko!

utah will draft J Fresh with their pick...

I see no problems with Jimmer going the 20 in any draft, the Jazz will go BPA with the Nets top 10 pick, They will go for Jimmer with their own draft pick in the 14 to 18 range...Jimmer could fit in most teams as a shooter/play maker, that's why its hard for me to see teams pass on him, Jimmer can be any thing from Jamer Nelson to John Stockton for the Jazz and as long as Favors and their pick from New Jersey pan out, The Jazz made a power move getting Harris, Favors and the Net's unprotected pick, the Jazz have a ton of assets to trade or develop...They have Favors, Hayward, Harris( still has trade value ) Millsap, Jefferson, Okur and 2 draft picks ( Barnes, Jones, Williams, Burks, Hamilton, Kanter or Knight plus Jimmer Fredette ( a lock in Utah with that 2nd pick )

The Jazz should take Jimmer,

The Jazz should take Jimmer, they can groom him and allow him to be himself as a Stephen Curry type guy. However, if they use thier first 1st round pick (probably between 6-9) I disagree with that because their probably another player who can help them there and they can probably get Fredette with the second 1st rounder.

The Jazz faithful will burn things if they dont draft Jimmer...

But they are rational enough to know they can't draft him too high, the Jazz fans are a strange and wonderful breed, likely due to incest and Mormonism but hey, you gotta love them...

The bigger question for me

The bigger question for me is: Who's going to play where?

If you draft Jimmer, you CANNOT play him at the shooting guard spot. If I was Utah, I'd go all out. I'd add Jimmer and move Harris. I think the perfect picks for Utah are Jimmer and Jordan Hamilton, since Texas played a similar offense to Utah this year. I think right now, I would do

Devin Harris and a 1st round pick to Portland for Greg Oden.

Why? Because if Oden succeeds, you have a solid center. Oden can play, the issue was he can't stay on the court. You can limit him to 25-30 mpg until you feel you can trust him and have a lineup of

Fredette-Hamilton-Krielinko-Milsap-Jefferson with Oden-Okur off the bench.

Oh, I didn't hear that. My bad.

If he really is returning, I think you can look at Terrance Jones, who can play multiple positions and then look for a SG in FA

No, you didn't know it's not

No, you didn't know it's not your fault, I even wanted the Jazz to draft Hamilton I was a little bummed whenever I heard he was returning to Texas. Anyway the Jazz will have a pick in the range of 5th-7th and I hope that they pick Terrence Jones I really like his game and he could play small forward with Hayward at shooting guard. It depends how the picks go, but I think there is a slight chance that Jimmer Fredette falls to the Jazz at the 12th pick which they currently have.

The only team Utah has to

The only team Utah has to look out for is Charlotte, because Jordan wants a point guard and he loves scorers.

That is who exactly I was

That is who exactly I was worried about taking Fredette, but I was wondering don't they already have D.J. Augustin why would they take another point guard are they giving up on him already? Also who knows Boston might move up for him since Danny Ainge likes him so much:

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is indeed a huge fan of Fredette and was hoping for big things as he settled in to watch the NCAA tournament this weekend.

“I’ve enjoyed watching Jimmer play the last four years,” Ainge said. “It’s been fun. He’s had a lot of people around the country following him. Everybody knows who he is now with the senior year he’s had.

“It’s fun watching all the different ways he scores. It’s fun watching my kids in the gym trying to emulate him and figure out how to do a double-crossover spin step-back. He’s got such a wide variety of shots. He’s such a great kid and a great scorer.”

All kidding aside, no matter which pick it is or if it's a trade I just hope on draft day the Jazz come out of it with Jimmer Fredette.

Even Magic Johnson said he's

Even Magic Johnson said he's the real deal. I think at worst he will average around 12ppg. No way he goes top 5 tho and even top ten is a strech.

Cory Joseph, Tristan

Cory Joseph, Tristan Thompson, Jordan Hamilton back next year...

I sure hope so.

Would most definitely be the most lethal triumvirate in the nation next season.

why would Hamilton and Thompson stay in school

They can only hurt their draft by staying, in fact all of these guys talked about as possibly returning are playing a dangerous game...they could all fall out of their current positions, they could get hurt, they could lose millions in cash if the owners restructure the rookie salary system...these fools need to jump to the pros now and get their degrees during a lock out...

I don't see any team taking

I don't see any team taking him in the top 10. Most teams have a good PG, and I don't think a team would draft for the intention of getting a great sixth man type player in the top 10. They draft thinking that the player can be a good, hopefully great starter someday. I'm not saying Jimmer can't be a starter in the NBA (anyone can start on a lottery team), but as of right now, I see him being a good sixth man on a winning team.
