I’m really liking what I’m seeing from the Belmont product for the Heat SL team. He looks about 6’1″/6’2″, has a nice body and really shoots with confidence. He also sees the floor pretty well and has had a few nice dimes. I haven’t watched him too closely on D, but he was DPOY in the Ohio Valley last year. Not the most athletic guy, but gets where he needs to go. Looks like the kind of guy who could land on a roster this year or next. Anyone else see it too, or am I delusional?

I saw it too, for some reason it seemed like every time he shot it went in. He shot one from far behind the three with confidence. He doesn’t seem nervous and seems pretty comfortable and plays with confidence. I dunno if he is a PG though .. seems like he has to be but his skill set i think is of a 2 guard.

I did some research on him (power of google ftw) and it appears he’s been overlooked throughout his basketball career, his high-school team-mates or union peers got offers from large programs like Austin Hollins to Minnesota and Leslie McDonald to North Carolina while he got the powerhouse Bruins….of Belomont. He was steller for Belmont and Jimmy Dykes of ESPN raved about him claiming he was the best player in Tennessee. After watching him, he plays with a such a chip on his shoulder that he knocks people over when he sits down on the bench which seems valid considering how he’s been ignored, we say guys like Burke and Oladipo have points to prove, at least they received wide-spread recognition at some point, this guy seems invisible in comparison.

He has the mental make-up to get a camp invite because he doesn’t take anything for granted and has incentive to work hard on every play. As for his game, he’s a smart scorer (prolific in college) think of him as a summer league version of Jason Terry on that note he’s a sub par playmaker essentially he’s an undersized shooting guard who is very slender at 180lbs but what sets him apart from the dime a dozen small two-guards is his fearless attitude and efficiency, every dribble leads to something also he’s a pretty solid defender (hounded Burke at times). I love how these guys just suddenly pop up out of nowhere considering how thorough scouting has become. If he doesn’t make an NBA roster, he’ll tear up the D-League and earn a call-up that way. From what I’ve gathered, he refuses to be ignored and has the ammunition to not be denied any longer.

Ian has been pretty solid and underrated for awhile. I’ve watched him play since high school when he was teaming with Todd Mayo(OJ’s lil bro and Marquette guard). He always played solid against Joe Jackson and Andre Hollins as well as others during his prep days. With a stellar Belmont career it’s great to see he’s doing well in the preseason with the Heat..
