surveParticipant…but, name a player whom you are surprised that is rated so highly.
to me its no question Vesely. I dont recall seeing him lower than 6th on any board and I am scratching my head as to why it seems he is a lock for a top 7 spot.

cbeckermanParticipantbecause he may have been playing weak competition where guarding him may not have been emphasized as much as it should have been.

PulseGlazerParticipantThe two big boom or bust guys, and again, moreso than Kanter or Biyombo, are Knight and Jan. Vesley is just amazingly raw, and Knight might top out at a rich man’s Bobby Jackson, which is nice, but for pick #5 or so? Knight, I think, has the best chance of being great in Toronto where Calderon and Bayless can allow him to play off the ball and develop at his own pace. Vesley? I have no idea what would be good for him. Maybe Cleveland with Varajeo to show him how to use that energy? I just think the kid is a bust waiting to happen.

BallinlikeMJ23ParticipantIt’s got to be Bismack. I’ve never seen a draft pick ranked so high that can’t put the ball in the hoop against phantom defense, you could lock Bismack in the gym for an hour and he might make three jumpshots. He shoots like 12% from the free throw line! Not to mention we have no idea how old he actually is, I don’t buy that he’s 18…probably more like 22.

surveParticipantexactly…I can see teams saying he is projected to go as high as 6, but why does he appear to be a LOCK?

PulseGlazerParticipantWait wait wait – you’ve never seen a guy rated this high with no offense? Tyson Chandler, Thabeet, Sean Bradley, Epke Udoh? No? Not one? I mean, I can go on, if you like.

PulseGlazerParticipantNo. Thabeet was always a project and lacked motor. Bismack has an awesome motor and is already better on D, against better competition. The possibility is there, but not the likelihood.

cbeckermanParticipantnot sure where you got your info on that one from especially in the last half of his career and he wasnt just standing under the basket.

PulseGlazerParticipantYes, but we’re talking about when he was drafted. The dude was good for 9-11 per night early career. Bismack can do that on putbacks and dunks.

khaled_a_dParticipantKanter ,If one of the 2 top draft sites (I am pointing to this site ) think he is the third in the low risk list , and he is a lock for being top 3 pick ,while he hasn’t played for such long time
I don’t know but,I am surprised that he is rated so highly.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/23/2011 - 5:15am #550808

PulseGlazerParticipantIt’s a weak draft and skilled bigs always go early. Like… always.

cbeckermanParticipantskilled to me means both ways, maybe you are referring to being a specialist? and how is he going to score 9-11 per night on putbacks when he misses open dunks?

PulseGlazerParticipantSorry, that last post was about Kanter.Biyombo is a defensively impressive big, but, no, not skilled.
And 9-11 will just be jumping over people, to be honest. Almost anyone that athletic can end up around that range.

dodgerParticipantHow can anyone be over-rated in a draft that is being called the worst ever.

surveParticipantwell, this draft is very underated in my opinion, to say this is the worst draft ever is laughable considering no one has suited up for their team yet.
Kyrie Irving is no Derrick Rose IMO
Derrick Williams is no Mike Beasley IMO (let him play a game first…plus Beasley may still be a star)
does this draft lack that star power of other drafts? yes. is it more balanced, I certainly believe so.
How can anyone say this is a bad draft when there will be guys like Cory Joseph, Malcolm Lee, Josh Selby, etc…will all likely be available in the 2nd round. There will be great steals/deals in the 2nd round.

bloodshyParticipantI agree that it’s crazy to see a guy w/such a limited offensive game be projected this high, but some teams don’t need the offensive production from their C–they generate their offense elsewhere and they just need someone that can slow down dominant offensive big men when they match up against LA, Orl, etc. I’m not saying Bismack’s worth a top-10 pick necessarily, but I really think he’ll be a good player in the NBA. Clearly he’ll go through a lot of coaching and training before he gets there.
As for Jan–absolutely shocked he’s going in the top 10. He’s tall and can really jump, but that’s it. He has classic stone hands, his feet are slow and he’s a horrible shot from every distance–probably worse than Bismack (seriously). I think he’d have a small chance of success on a run-n-gun team, but anywhere else he’d be a disaster. Major project w/bust written all over him.

Memphis MadnessParticipantPlayers will need to find the right fit. You’ve got four point guards who can run a team.
Derrick Williams is the only guy who I think can be a first option type player. The rest of the lottery picks are 2nd or 3rd options. But some good role players throughout the first round.
