We might see someone like that in the next 20-40 years, Shaq and Wilt are the only two like that so far.

Just an observation but is the modern game killing our centres. The athletic a bility of the players today is making the traditional old centre players a bit redundant but is it also breaking them.

I know that there bigger and get a bit more wear and tear due to body size but would I be right in saing that overall a starting centre woul average alot more games missed due to injury than any other position?

At the rate these players are growing at, combined with the drugs that are only improving and becoming more readily available, I will have to disagree with the notion that we will NEVER see a big man with the combo of his size and athleticism.

I don’t know if you have noticed, but players in the draft seem to have less and less 7 footers each year, let alone someone who weighs 300lbs. There will be someone someday that will come in the league and resemble Shaq’s size and athleticism, but I don’t see it anytime soon. Centers now a days are 6’10 250lbs, the league are becoming less and less center oriented and for some reason, less and less 7’0 are coming in the league. The last phenom 7’0 was Greg Oden.

I think someone like Shaq will come soon because Howard may not be as tall but he is pretty close to what Shaq brings.

I think because of the speed of the game, it makes more sense for guys to look at the 6’10" to 7"0" quicker guys to main the Center position.
