valentineDwight Howard has an early-termination option on the last year of his contract (2012-13) and thus can exercise it and become a free agent after the 2011-12 season.
And as Ken Berger of CBS Sports notes, there has been some indication Howard hasn’t 100 percent married himself to the Magic before their trade deals on Saturday.
"People with knowledge of Howard’s thinking said the superstar is on board with Orlando’s moves, with one saying he’s ‘a big fan’ of the changes," wrote Berger. "But as he grew restless over the summer about the developments in South Florida, and as the Magic were exposed in recent weeks, Howard privately already was beginning to weigh his options. Like the list of stars he wanted to join him in Orlando, he was forming another list: potential suitors for him. Two teams were on it, according to sources: the Knicks and Lakers."
Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, also told Berger this: "It’s no secret that Dwight Howard is about winning a championship. A number of teams in the East have significantly upgraded their talent level. In order to compete, the trades consummated [Saturday] are important and represent a significant upgrade in talent."
So while Howard may like the team’s recent changes, it’s possible how they perform this year and next — whether the Magic can contend for, or make, the NBA Finals — may go a long way towards revealing what Howard’s future holds.
Perform well, and Howard may be inclined to stay. But if they can’t get the job done, the center may ultimately decided to explore other options.

nateoak10ParticipantCLE made deals for aging fading stars like Shaq and Tawn to keep LBJ. ORL just got Arenas and Hedo. If they cant stay with Miami and Boston I expect him to leave. Good fits would be:
NYK: Him and stat would be dominant, pretty obvious fit here
GSW: All they need in the starting lineup is a defensive center and with Ellis, Curry and Lee he’s joining 3 potential all stars in a fast system
MIA: They need a inside beast , if they got him kiss the title good by for anyone not named the Heat

SteroidParticipantDwight on the Lakers does seem realistic even with Bynum there right now. I could see the Lakers make some moves to get Howard if he actually becomes avialable in the future. Howard would give them some young star power.

BasterdInABasketParticipantOKC has a lot of young guys with expiring contracts and some projected cap room if they could make a couple moves though they still have to extend westbrook.
Westbrook-Durant-Howard would look like the best trio you could ever assemble on a basketball court and all are under age 25. It seems joining other stars is gonna be a new trend and dwight howard supposedly is truly serious about winning so would he take a few million less similar to wade-bosh-lebron??

Da1potParticipantHim and Melo are coming to D.C. to play with John Wall!!! LOL
For real though I think he will either go with Melo to the Knicks, Durant to the Thunder but my sleeper pick is the Boston Celtics. Allen, Garnett and both O’Neals have expiring contracts after next season. If they lose just one O’Neal, Allen and Marquis Daniels(who also expires) they can sign him to a large contract.

Meditated StatesParticipantPlaying with Rondo on a defensive minded team will make him even better than what we are seeing. I think the Celtics get Howard. Shaq is finding life to be pretty good in Boston with an unselfish PG and players. Dwight will get the ball in easy scoring positions and foul less often with less penetration getting in the paint. Big market team too.

HitsterParticipantBoston will have a cap space in 2012 with Shaq, Allen, KG and JO all coming off the books. Any moves for Howard may depend on what happens with Perkins when he comes back from injury and his potential renewal next summer. But with Rondo in place, Bradley developing, PP still there and possibly KG then Dwight would have a decent line up around him.
The Lakers have a team option on Bynum in 2012-13 so the main tool for an S and T is there and they could throw in picks as well. Gasol alongside Howard would be fairly scary!
NY will have eyes on Melo in 2011 and maybe Deron or CP3 in 2012 if they will still have any cap space then I would not like to guess.
Miami would probably have to give up Bosh to fit Howard in salarywise but that move would make them stronger.
Also could CP3 and maybe Dwight look to link up as a duo somewhere?
Other teams likely to be in the mix could be Dallas who will always try to make deals happen and OKC will have assets to trade if they wanted to try and add Howard alongside KD.
