So we basically 1/4 the way through the season, how would you rate your team so far and what do you want to see moving forward? (Add fave player as well if you want)

    Indiana Pacers:
So far they have been a mixed bag, but I didn’t expect so many injuries no one did. I think they are a little below where they deserve to be, but the lack of talent is evident. I would give them a C+.

Going forward all I want is to see Solomon Hill get as many opportunities as SG as possible and mold into a Shane Battier type to take on tough defensive assignments now and when PG returns, Allen to start getting minutes again and Hibbert/Hill to be aggressive offensively.

Win or Lose i think Indiana will be in a good spot next season with greater depth and a potential lottery pick.

There in last place but the players are fighting hard which is great to see.  Like to see them give wroten and MCW some minutes together and let them build some chemistry.

Going forward I like to see the team give more confidence in Wroten and K.J McDaniels because they both can play and are fun to watch.  Hopefully win a couple more games but still finish!

I’m not gonna lie, this has been a super encouraging season for the Bucks.  Jabari had a rough start to the season, but, if you subtract his first five games, he has been a very efficient offensive player.  He needs to improve as a defensive rebounder and man defender, but his flaws are pretty typical for a young player.  Perhaps the one disappointing thing about his game is that his 3-point shot hasn’t translated, but he has pretty much eliminated the shot from his arsenal.  Hopefully he adds it in the future when he has a chance to work on it in the offseason.

Giannis has been nice and the team is starting find out how to use him.  He has gone from backup SF at the start of the season to backup PF (his best position) to starting SF.  He is really showing he can be a deadly iso scorer as well as transition player and his post game is coming along, although he still needs to work on adding counter moves.  He obviously put a lot of work into improving his ball handling and finishing over the offseason and it is paying off.  Giannis now has a few go-to moves that he didn’t have last season.  He does need to do a better job avoiding fouls and still needs to keep maturing physically.  Adding a jump shot would help and he has looked more confident shooting the ball the last couple games.

Larry Sanders has been a mess other than his offensive rebounding, PnR defense and rim protection.  He is getting the ball in the post and it is an absolute adventure due to his overdribbling and poor footwork.  He is struggling to finish at the rim and is having issues boxing out.  Foul trouble and injuries have limited him to only 21.4 MPG.

Brandon Knight is putting up incredible box score stats, scoring and assisting with efficiency, although some of that is due to the lack of creators in the Bucks’ early starting lineup.  He isn’t as good as the stats make him look, but he could be OK once he accepts a smaller role in the offense, which he has been doing as of late.  Still overdribbles and is a bad passer.

Team overall started with its rotations a mess, but they have gotten much better as the season has gone on.  The team’s offense, terrible early on, has been fantastic as of late, while the defense, which was great early on has slumped.  A lot of this has to do with strength of schedule and the Bucks playing a lot of good defensive, terrible offensive teams early in the season.  Still, the Bucks are definitely better now than they were at the start of the season despite their recent losses.  The team easily could have a winning record if it had better luck in close games.  The Bucks’ bench may be the best in the entire league, especially once Ersan returns from his injury.

The coaching staff was under a lot of scrutiny early on, but it has done an excellent job putting Giannis and Jabari in postions where they can succeed.  The team’s lineup now looks great, although the coaches took a while to find the right rotation.  I still wish Giannis and Jabari got more minutes in the 1st half of games and that the team went to Jabari more in the 3rd quarter, as Jabari does much of his damage in the opening minutes of games.

The Bucks are also really fun to watch.  Jabari is fifth in the league with 40 dunks and Giannis is 9th with 30. Both have also done a great job finding the other on the break and seem to be developing chemistry on the court together, although their lack of shooting cramps the floor when they play at the same time.

     Lakers  –  F

I just have this gut feeling that the Lakers are going to do the worst thing possible and end up with the 6th or 7th pick thus sending it to the Suns.  I just don’t think the team as currently constructed will lose as many games.  Whether it be management or the coaching staff, there is a disconnect between what should be happening and what is.  I think part of it is the front office is too prideful for a full out tank job for one season.  Which is absolutely ridiculous, for one I was always taught there is no room for pride in the workplace.  Are they hoping to be congratulated at the end of the season for not "tanking"?  They have more incentive than anybody in the league to tank… yes even the 76ers, and yet they still can’t get it right.  The 76ers own all of their picks and already have some young potential building blocks.  While the Lakers have one, maybe two young players for the future, and owe a ton of picks going out over the next few years, keeping their pick before they spend their free agency money, or at least try to would be the best thing for the franchise…. I disgress.  Clearly I could go on for days about what they should be doing, and how stupid they are for not doing it.  Any reasonably smart Laker fan understands this, and would support it.  The Lakers either don’t give enough credit to their true fan base and instead listen to the noise makers… or more specifically Kobe fans who insist the Lakers try to win.  Or the Lakers resent the backlack that they inevitably face while they lose, from the media specifically.  Neither reason is good enough however.  It’s almost as if they have gone full Hollywood.  And what I mean by this is, they act like a celebrity.  They clearly care whatever everybody else thinks, and will do things at a detriment to the team to "look" good.  It’s a sad day for me because they appear to be stuck in their ways, ways that I don’t believe will be successful in the new era of the NBA.

The only reason I didn’t give it an F- is because Kobe has looked healthy.  He has played decent, but in all honesty his selfishness is just annoying at this point.  I have been watching the guy for 19 years and it is apparent to me that it is not going to end gracefully for him.  Supporters will point to his league leading PPG, but anybody with a statistical strand in their body can tell you how ineffecient he has been, as well as selfish.  Queue up the Kobe fans who will hate on my post for speaking truth… (looking at you llperez).  At least he is healthy though, and it’s better to watch him flame out healthy than to watch him limp away or be forced to retire because of injury.

Don’t forget the damage Byron Scott’s “old school” approach is doing. Jordan Clarkson looked great in the preseason and he’s never played too bad. He’s young, had potential, and should be playing. Scott’s biggest gripe that players aren’t playing defense. Clarkson has more defensive potential and plays with more passion than every Laker, except maybe Ed Davis. But he’s a rookie, and God forbid Scott from letting a rookie play. Now he just collects DNP’s.

Then Scott benched Lin. What? First of all, Ronnie Price is terrible. Yes, he passes the ball like a PG should. Old school. That’s why Scott plays him. Meanwhile, Lin, who could be valuable return and a much reduced, decent price. He’d be a great backup. Instead, Scott runs an offense not suited for his style and benches him.

Pistons – with only 3 wins a grade of F seems fair.

We have all said it a million times – we would like to see both Jennings and Josh Smith traded. I have also said it before Brandon Knight will develop into a good player, I wish they had kept him. When they decided to let him go, they should of drafted hometown hero Trey Burke.

KCP has never been a good % shooter, he has the odd good game, but that draft pick should have been Burke instead.

It will heart breaking if we lose Monroe and the salt will be poured onto the wounds if Smith and Jennings are not moved.

Oh well, at least we should keep our lotto pick coming up….

We are accidentially tanking pretty badly since our three best players will have been hurt for 2 to 3 months by the time they comeback. I am actually happy this happened even after all this losing. We have a direction and that is good. Our young players are continuing to develop.

Some how shabazz muhammed became our best scorer who isn’t hurt and I have to say I am really liking what I am seeing from him. He looks explosive and is so skilled at finishing within 5 feet of the hoop. He still can’t really dribble or shoot and lavine isn’t ready to be a starting PG, but is playing pretty well and brewer is our back up PG. Despite this he is averaging 17 a game over the last 6 games and already has 11 tonight. It is clear he is a hardworker and wants to be great, I hope his fire and agressiveness rub off on Wiggins. He basically doing it by pure hustle and being agressive, I can’t wait to see what he can do when he plays with rubio.

Wiggins and lavine are playing how we expected them to, they are both young and lack polish and that is pretty clear. They definitely have a lot of potential if they keep working hard. Dieng looks like a solid starting center in the league. Bennett still needs to work on his game, but he looks like a different player from last year and that is good.

The vibe from the team seems pretty positive especially for their record. Flip seems to be managing the development of the young guys pretty well.

Overall I just like where our team is headed and like how this year is going and think our future will be bright. We are about one top big man draft pick away from being complete. I also like that we shouldnt be stuck tanking more than this season.
