IndianaBasketballParticipantThe results of his MRI will be released at some point today, but just to put in a guess… How much time do you think he’ll miss? None of us are doctors (I don’t think), but what’s your gut telling you?
I’m trying to be optimistic, but I just have a bad feeling because that didn’t look good at all. When the knee hyperextends like that, you’re at risk of serious damage. My guess is a torn ACL………….

negguaryParticipantSo he could return regular season, but they will probably hold him out for the season to play it safe, and gradually get him back in the playoffs being as thought their first round matchup will be a cakewalk! Hope he makes a full recovery, I hate what he did going to the Warrior, but hate to see injuries and love him as a player still!

IndianaBasketballParticipantThey just released it. 4 weeks. MCL sprain.
This is great news considering. Happy it wasn’t an ACL tear.

IndianaBasketballParticipantKD & GSW really dodged a bullet. No ACL damage. No MCL tear. No tibia fracture.
With 6 weeks of the regular season remaining, there’s enough time for him to get the healing he needs. Looking at GSW’s remaining schedule, I see no reason why they still can’t finish as the top seed. There’s really no need to rush him back in my opinion.

negguaryParticipantThey won 73 games without him! they’ll be fine

bballjunkie09ParticipantDon’t act like Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Leandro Barbosa and Mareese Speights didn’t play an integral part in their 73 win season. Their depth last season blew teams out the building up to their historical regular season. Spurs are only 4 games out of the 1st seed. Kerr now has to decide now whether to rest his starters and sacrifice some games, or go all-in to keep the first seed. The KD injury has some significant spillover effects.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’d consider resting him the first round of the playoffs too. They can beat DEN, POR, MIN, DAL and NO w/o KD.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantWhile it’s probably true they will be able to beat any of those teams without him, they also want to integrate him back to the lineup as soon as possible. They will have to adjust their playing style without him and working him back in during a second round playoff series will be a challenge, especially if he’s rusty and hasn’t played in 2 months. I think the sooner he can get back on the court for them the better ( provided he is fully recovered of course).
There is also the slight chance that San Antonio could overtake and get the one seed which would make for a much more difficult first round matchup with a team like Memphis or OKC.

BiggysmallsParticipantDon’t think they really need to "rest" guys. Nobody plays more than 34 minutes per game. Curry, Thompson, Green all play right around 33 mpg. Iggy plays 25. Bench guys all play 12-18.
No reason why GS can’t retain that top seed. Lots of bad teams in the NBA and the Warriors will steamroll a lot of em.
I’d assume they’d want KD back at least in some capacity for the playoffs so that they can integrate him back into their style of play. But yeah, GS dodged a bullet because without him, the Spurs and Rockets could certainly push them. Now I think GS beats both teams in a maximum of 6 games again.
