How good do you think he will be? He will probably average a double double playing in Jerry Sloan’s system which caters to big men like Jefferson. I think he could potentially be an all-star this year if he says healthy. Not to mention he has something that he hasn’t had, an all-star point guard and arguably the best point in the league. I think he can be an even better player that Boozer was in this system. I could see him averaging around 20-22ppg, 10-11reb, 1-1.5blk.

I agree i think he can be as good if not better than boozer. Hes only 25, and defends the rim better than boozer, and getting good looks from the best pg in the league wont hurt. Boozer was more a mid range pick and pop player. Jefferson likes to bang down low and is more of a low post scorer which should compliment Memo’s game better.

I see him putting Boozer liek numbers his first year, besides his interior passing. 19 and 11 with an upside of 23 points.

As a wolves fan I watched Al a lot. I wish him well in Utah and think they will be successful together, but Al is dominant low post scorer and good defensive rebounder and that’s it. He doesn’t guard the rim well. Ignore his block numbers they don’t show the whole picture. Al will play terrible D for 30 mins and then block the same player 2-3 times on the same possession with the player recovering the ball after each block. On offense he is amazing in the low post, but his passing skills are junior high level. Unless he radically changes his game expect to see Al try to fight through double and triple teams before he ever kicks the ball out. The amazing thing is that he will fight through the double and triple teams regularly, but it’s still bad basketball. Rebounding he will do a good job on the defensive end, but don’t expect much effort on the offensive boards. He’s in great shape and the knee shouldn’t be an issue any more. I expect he’ll be an all-star based off of offensive production this year and or next, but once you overlook the production numbers you’ll also realize he’s a “black hole” when he gets the rock down low and a serious defensive liability. All in all I hope he thrives in Utah as he’s a good kid and he helped keep Wolves fans out of suicide watch for a couple years.

Great rebounder. He was traded from Boston because his defense was no where like Perkins D. Al is bad on the pick and roll and does not read what the offense is doing well. He has a quick 2 leap so he blocks a shot here and there. I like Al and Tim Duncan said he is the toughest to deal with on the block. His D is not very good though.

I don’t think he’s as perfect of a fit with Sloan that everyone thinks. Al Jeff’s strength is in the low post. He’s now required to play high post a lot more than he’s had to do or proven to do well.

He will be fine, he’ll fit in where he gets in. I think he could dominate in the post against most PF’s in the league due to his size and post movement. I easily see 20-10 with a ceiling of 23-24 and 12-13…He will do the same as Boozer and eventually more once he settles in the situation he’s in.

Jefferson will relish the opportunity to finally be out of “basketball prison.” He will love playing alongside the best PG in the league (Dwill), which have a positive effect on him, so much that he will be better than Boozer. Defend somewhat better than him. Sloan and hopefully Malone himself will teach him so much. In about 2 or 3 years, you might even see people comparing him to the Mailman himself, just like Dwill is now being compared to John Stockton or Jason Kidd. One thing is for sure, Utah will look back on this offseason in the future and think what a great one it was. They will not regret this move, nor the move for Raja Bell. This will be a great cornerstone for the Utah Jazz.

Be an upgrade over Boozer commanding more double teams.

Your right DWill, Jefferson put up some good numbers and had some monster games last year on a team that had nothing else…I like Johnny Flynn, but he is NO Deron Williams, and he had nothing like the shooters on Utah in Minny. He will flourish in Utah IMO…
