How to get Ricky Rubio to the Knicks

Minnesota is slated for a top 5 pick. I think they will choose Kyrie Irving leaving no use to bring Rubio over. He is reluctant to play there and wants to play in an uptempo system in a big market ala New York.

Knicks receive- Ricky Rubio, Wesley Johnson and Greg Oden

TrailBlazers receive- Jonny Flynn and Jerome Jordan and Knicks 2011 1st(whoever they pick is for Portland)

T'Wolves receive- Landry Fields and Rudy Fernandez

Portland- has a PG and a new young Center.

Minnesota- gets a true SG who would fit in great and a scorer to bring in off the bench.

New York- gets a true PG, a 2Guard who can stretch the floor better than Fields and Big who if healthy is a top 5 Defensive Center.

Rotations

Minnesota

Irving-Fields-Beasley-Love-Milicic

Ridnour-Fernendez-Randolph

Portland

Flynn-Roy-Wallace-Aldridge-Camby

Mills-Matthews-Batum-Jordan

New York

Rubio-Johnson-Anthony-Stoudemire-Oden

Douglas-Crawford(Via FA)-Williams-Jeffries-Turiaf

If the Knicks had been

If the Knicks had been serious about getting Rubio then Donnie Walsh could have tried to trade up for him back at the 2009 draft but no-one expected Rubio to drop to 5 and so Walsh would have had literally minutes to try and do a deal with Kahn or prise him away afterwards.

Trading away future picks for a rookie would also have been a huge risk although no doubt Rubio would have come to NY that summer if they had got him.

Now it's largely pointless as the Knicks have Billups and will either extend him or target CP3 or D-Will next summer.

Rubio

Your trade scenario is extremely unlikely, and personally, I don't see Minnesota drafting Irving. If they do, they are almost assuredly going to want young talent in return and the Knicks don't bring much of that to the table. Minnesota is going to have a high asking price for Rubio, and I don't see the Knicks getting in serious deliberations to acquire the Spaniard.

I just don't understand the

I just don't understand the outlandishness of the trades people put on here. I understand rooting for your favorite team and wanting the get the best out of a deal but cmon man, you have to assess from both sides, look at statistics, factor in salaries, the potential of the players involved, team needs, etc...you can't just throw names out there because you want the best for your team

I really don't think Rubio

I really don't think Rubio comes over for another 5 years.....He will be like one of those foreign players who gets drafted & you will eventually forget about him until he actually comes over.

Rubio sucks. He is one of the worst 2-3 rotation point guards in Euroleague. Why the hell do NBA fans care about some scrub in Euroleague? Rubio is an awful player.

American basketball fans are so bizarre.

Whe he gets to the NBA no

Whe he gets to the NBA no doubt he will likely be one of the worst starting PG's for one of the worst teams.

This is a bad trade for the

This is a bad trade for the Knicks and all things involved. Knicks will be alright at point. Clippers could surprise and make a deal for Rubio but I see no reason why New York would. Fields is close to untouchable because he is young promising talent, that can do a little bit of everything and he plays some defense. He also does not need many touches to be effective.

You don't even know if Rubio

You don't even know if Rubio is that good. For all you know he could be the next Jose Calderon or worse, Goran Dragic or Beno Udrih. You havev't even seen him play one game. Why do you want him? I'd rather have Dwill or CP3. And if that trade scenario works it will be a disgrace to the entire league. Its even worse then the Lakers/Grizzlies deal that brought Gasol to the Lakers.

Is his game suited for the NBA?

He's not a good shooter at all and he doesn't have amazing measurables. That's a bad combination for the NBA level.

You Forgot

The Andy Rautins factors in NYC. Now there is your PG/SG who can stretch the floor. Nice pick Donnie.

the Wolves should trade him asap...

Especially if they can get a Point guard in the draft, Namely Kyrie Irving...if the Wolves get the top pick and select Irving number one, they can trade Rubio to either the Kings, Raptors or Cavs and get the versatile Sf they lack...

Rudeboy

Rondo has the athletic ability to make up for his poor shooting, though, as he's so hard to stay in front of when he gets going. He's more dynamic than Rubio is with his ballhandling. He's also improved his strength and ability to finish in the paint, which are issues for Rubio. He's become better at hitting the mid-range jumper. His lack of consistent outside shooting actually hurts Boston quite a bit at times, but he's a better shooter than even Rubio is.

rubio

first oden is not a new young center. 2nd we're not gonna trade with a &$#%#&@! ass team and get rid of our "new young" sg. also rubio could be great if he came over here..brandon jennings averaged 7 points a game while he was over there and now look at him. More space could allow rubio to flourish. not saying its a guarantee but id rather try him any day than take landry fields and rudy fernandez in a deal. stupid idea.

That still means that Rubio

That still means that Rubio could be a starter on someone's team. I would not do a crazy trade for him though.

Rudeboy. Nice comparison.

Rudeboy. Nice comparison. Sure Rondo isn't th Pete Maravich everyone thought Rubio would be at 15 years old, but that's still not a bad player. The kid has a much better suited game for the NBA. Guys like Rubio who play fast paced and can't shoot have trouble finding minutes and being effective in those minutes because of how jumpshot oriented the Euroleague's are. Rubio will be fine, and I think once he gets with the quality trainers and coaches te NBA has to offer, his game will really begin to blossom. Hopefully he doesn't get stuck as the face of Minny running the triangle, because it would take an open ended triangle like Jerry West used to run to be able get the best out of Ricky.

The Euroleague is NOT "jump

The Euroleague is NOT "jump shot oriented." It is way less jump shot oriented than the NBA is. The Euroleague is about big men in the post, pick and roll point guards, guards that can penetrate and power forwards that can stretch the floor.

It is way less a jump shot league than the NBA is. Saying it is all jump shooting just shows you don't know anything at all about the Euroleague.

Rubio just sucks because he isn't a good player. That is all.
