I believe that with him working out all summer in LA and him wanting to play for the lakers and his agent wanting that too, I think their wish will come true because the teams picking 4-6 simply don’t need a guy who doesn’t want to be there while they have plenty of other great options and #5 Utah #6 Boston already have their PG’s of the future. I believe Orlando plays it safe and fills their pg and pf holes with Randle at #4 and one of Lavine/Payton/Napier at #12. Utah picks Vonleh 5th and Boston picks Marcus smart 6th and Exum would fall to LA at 7.

How possible is it that the lakers get Exum after all?

But he’s quoted as saying Orlando is a good is situation for him (as well as L.A.) and that he’s friends with Victor Oladipo.

So i’d say there’s an 80% chance he goes to Orlando, with a 20% chance he could fall to L.A. based on the point you made about teams not needing to take someone who doesn’t want to be there.

He won’t fall past LA at #7, but I think he’s pretty much a lock for Orlando. Should he not be taken by the Magic, Utah probably wouldnt want him with their guards already pretty set with Burke and Burks, Boston and LA would both very strongly consider taking him.

I agree with the scenario that if he doesn’t get taken by Orlando at 4 then he probably falls to 7 and the Lakers. If he really wants to be a PG then Utah drafted Burks last year and also have Burke and Hayward to run a 3 man backcourt combo. At Boston he’d be considered only as a SG as they have an All Star PG in Rondo and Bradley as another combo guard there.

If Orlando do pass on Randle then I guess he would not slide past Boston as I figure that Utah may take Vonleh to give them the needed perimeter defence and him not being 19 to August they don’t need to rush with his development so they can figure out the Kanter/Favours conudrum by then.

I think a lot depends if Orlando did decide to reach for Smart or look to trade down for him if they think they could get him a bit lower.

Basically I think that Exum and Smart will end up at Orlando and Lakers but I’m not sure who will be where.

I think the Lakers are hard pressed to get him. If Orlando passes him (for presumably Randle, a safer pick) then the Celtics will take him and make him a SG. The Celtics might be picking for the TWolves or someone else, so there’s a lot up in the air. In slots 4-8 there are mostly PG’s and PF’s (Randle, Vonleh, Gordon, Exum, Smart… in no particular order).

The Celtics already have too many PG’s and PF’s. If they keep there pick, Exum could play SG and Gordon could play SF/PF. Those might be there best options. I still think they trade.

I think that there is a bigger chance that he goes in the top 3 than he falls lower than 5.

I’m a Sixers fan who wants them to take whichever of the top 3 players is left at 3, but I am concerned that we may take Exum at 3 if it comes down to him or Parker.

Philly’s workouts will be the most interesting as having 3rd and 10th picks they would almost be wanting to work out the whole consensus lottery draft. A lot will depend if any of the big 3 refuse to workout for Philly if they get a clear promise from Cavs or Bucks.

Exum has been mentioned as an option for Philly at 3 but I cannot see them passing on any of the big 3 personally.

I’ll be absolutely shocked if he isn’t in the top 4.  If he does fall out of the top 4, Utah would certainly snag him up.  LA’s only chance of getting him is figuring out a way to trade up.

The Celtics, more specifically Danny Ainge are a world class organization, not like most of the other teams drafting at the top, they won’t draft someone because he is "popular" among others.  They will take whoever they think is the best player after their workouts, there is nothing that proves Exum is a better player than Smart right now so yeah, there is a possibility that they take Smart over Exum.  Likely? No, impossible? Certainly not.

Please don’t say exum is a bigger version of curry……EVER. Curry is a great shooter and always has been, exum is not. Curry is a top 5 pg, exum is still unproven

Clearly, this guy has a lot of potential. It will be a big mistake if any team in the 4-6 range draft based on need instead of BPA.
