A couple things early on, Patrick Beverly is coming out aggressive defensively guarding MCW. MCW is not handling pressure well early.
Did royce white show up?
Always like the first game lots of energy.
Hou Defense is smothering Phi, MCW just made a great up court pass to Rodney Williams for a nice dunk. Tyler Honeycutt looks more explosive tried to finish a nice dunk in traffic but got fouled.
No Royce White
I wish I had that, keep the updates coming though
Didnt know vader blue ended up in houston
No problem, I'm going to be watching all the games today.
Available on play store im still looking at what else might work. Ill post if I find any thing
I feel like the Rockets are full court pressing them with the PGs to see who will really get after it on defense. They know Harden will give them enough offense from the backcourt so they are trying to find a defensive PG to pair up with him.
Jack Cooley is hustling his butt off, intensity has ratcheted up alot, MCW is struggling mightily with pressure.
Just as I'm typing about MCW struggling he gets to the basket for an and one. Terrance Jones's shooting stroke looks more fluid and compact.
Casper Ware is making an impression with his 3point shooting and defense. MCW another turnover and is noticeably frustrated.
MCW has 6 first half turnovers. Hou is bullying Phi, Greg Smith's form is hideous. he leans so far back on his freethrows lol. A lot of trapping by both teams.
Didn't Ricky ledo get traded to the sixers
No Ledo is on the Mavs, but where is Motiejunas?
Beverly is a ball hawk and is quick. Khalif Wyatt has not left an imprint at all on the game. Terrance jones will not go to his right hand. MCW is battling now, way more aggressive and under control. I like the announcers for the game, they are interesting and give good insight.
No Motiejunas, MCW barely missed half court shot. Half Time.
Carter-Williams is very talented...turnover prone but he has talent.
Yeah he's playing much better when he isn't passing as much. Could be first game jitters causing the turnovers maybe.
3rd Quarter, MCW is starting to find his groove. Great couple plays, Terrance jones is starting to score. Geez Rodney Williams is an elite athlete, monster two hand dunk.
Even though Carter-Williams has many turnovers, I think he has looked okay thus far. He has gotten to the free throw line a lot and has converted many of his drives to the basket. He did this inconsistently at Syracuse so it is encouraging to see this in his very first summer league game. The jump shot needs work but that's no surprise.
Terrence Jones, Patrick Beverly, James Anderson and Greg Smith have really impressed me.
Honeycutt, Casper Ware, Jack Cooley, Michael Eric, Tour'e Murry, and Arnett Moultrie have shown flashes
Khalif Wyatt, Travis Leslie, and James Southerland have not looked good at all
Rodney Williams has had some powerful finishes too
Surprising that Vander Blue and Isaiah Canaan have not gotten in yet
Funny game for Carter-Williams so far, he's shown he can get to the line at a very healthy rate due to his superior size he's been turnover prone due to the insane pressure by Beverley and being simply nervous. Imagine what kind of game he'd produce if he toned down the turnovers and wasn't being marked so tightly, kid has the X-Factor at this level.
Rodney Williams is scoring in transition and off the ball, looks good so far . MCW is impacting this game big time in the second half. I keep thinking Cooley is Harengody every time I see him on he court. Phi Fighting back and has made it a six point game.
If Rodney Williams keeps playing like this, he will stick with the Sixers. Lots of potential. Terrence Jones should be the 6th man in Houston, he is playing pretty good team ball overall.
Terrence Jones is a monster going to his left, I have never seen him go to his right though.
I know this is VERY early but does Rodney Williams game remind some of a light Shawn Marion? Beverly is playing like he wants Lins starting job, I love his defense and " never back down" mentality.
I think hes more like a DeMar DeRozan lite.
Terrence Jones SL MVP?
Yeah it's funny how people know T Jones is going o his left but nobody seems to stop him.
Travis Leslie played the first three minutes and hasn't gotten in since which is surprising since Wyatt has been awful too. PHI actually has been playing the diminutive DJ Cooper at the 2
Jack Cooley, plays like a smaller Birdman.
How sad is it I'm going to spend most of my day watching this crap?
I see the potential with Michael Carter-Williams, but I'm not terribly impressed by him so far.20, 6, and 6...but 8 turnovers and no 3 pointers made.
MCW has 20pt 6ast and 8To but he is looking aggressive. Rodney Williams just got up for a nice block off the glass.
One turnover away from a double-double......
Noticed kazemis physicality. He had 4 fouls in the first half but hes showing some effort boxing out.
Jack Cooley and Rodney Williams
Not Impressed by:
Khalif Wyatt and Robert Covington
I am working 16 hours today but I felt like i was watching the game after reading this thread. Keep it up fellas. Haha
Final Thoughts: MCW has game but has to work on securing the ball, jump shot, and decision making. Terrance Jones was aggressive and looked good overall, Beverly was great defensively and offensively with his attitude, quickness, and aggressiveness. Rodney Williams has a place on he 76ers with his athletic ability and effort, Wyatt, southerland, and Moultrie were underwhelming.
He's got a lot of flaws right now (TO's and Jump shot to name a few) but he's got great size, athleticism and an aggressive approach...
He needs to play 20 plus minutes per game and the coach needs to let him work through his mistakes...
I think Rodney Williams makes the Team and eventually makes his way on the court this year...
Wyatt wont make the team and I want to see more Arsalan Kazem but he fouls a lot for a F...
Does anybody know why Justin Holiday didn't play?....it seems like they were in desperate need of some scoring from the wing and he is the best one they have on their summer league roster.
As for MCW this is what you should expect from him....he will be crazy inconsistent and turn the ball over a lot. He will take some bad shots then the next time down the court make a great move. He is certainly a project but he may be forced to start if the Sixers don't sign a free agent PG.
