NBADRAFTEXPRESS is reporting that the New Orleans Hornets have signed former Arizona guard Mustafa Shakur to a pratically guaranteed contract..

Its funny that now they are teammates..But in 2003 Shakur and Chris Paul were the top 2 rated point guards coming out of high school…

The Hornets were looking for a backup for CP3 since trading Darren Collison to The Pacers earlier this month…..

i think this signing isnt enuff Shakur hasnt prove himself at the NBA level yet….

I like the signing. He’s only 26, he has good size for a lead guard and could provide something.

I’m interested to see how he does as a backup. Maybe he could provide at least some solid backup minutes and stats

CP could show him a few things and help him out but probably nothing more than a bench player. Good pick up for the price range they were looking for.

He was impressive in SL. He’s got very good size from the PG spot, is quick and a pretty good athlete, and he even was making jump shots! 3rd PG for the Hornets, they still need a backup for Paul

I think he could play the same role that Janero Pargo played for them a couple years ago.. Come in, play solid and look for easy buckets.. Sort of a change of pace PG.. He is a little out of control and CP3 is all control.. Its a good signing..

He played well for Tulsa last year averaging about 19 and 7 assists I believe. Not an impact player but good enough as backup.

Agreed Durantula83. He’s to the point where he’s improved to the level where he can be a backup pg in this league playing 10-15 min a night. Just took him a lil more time than others to become a steady player who makes good decisions and able to knock down shots from the perimeter consistently. He should be fine, I like this pick up.

I like the fact that someone other than a six year journey man retread is getting an oppurtunity, he has put the work in and performed well and put up solid numbers in the D league. Demps must actually be around GYMS. Don’t get me started on the GM’s in this league

Was the contract practically guaranteed or did you mean to say partially guaranteed?
