Heat Draft Pick Jarvis Varnado Signs with team in Italy
"WHY WOULD HE DO THAT IM CONFUSED"
Because he can count.
1. Chris Bosh
2. LeBron James
3. Dwyane Wade
4. Mike Miller
5. Udonis Haslem
6. Joel Anthony
7. Zydrunas Ilgauskas
8. Eddie House
9. Jamaal Magloire
10. Carlos Arroyo
11. Juwan Howard
12. James Jones
13. Shavlik Randolph (not fully guaranteed)
14. Mario Chalmers
15. Kenny Hasbrouck (not fully guaranteed)
16. Patrick Beverley (not fully guaranteed)
17. Dexter Pittman
If only 15 guys make the team and 14 of the 17 currently signed are fully guaranteed for 2010-11, he can probably see that he has little chance of making the team.
Thats a good move, I think he can be an NBA player, but he'd play in the D-League this year if he didn't go overseas. Miami sent Patrick Beverly over to develop and I doubt they are giving up on Varando, but its an opportunity for him to make more money and still have the opportunity to play for the Heat in the future.
SYMBOL..I cant find any info about how much money or on the length of the contract..They might post more later today...
But Varnado really need to add some weight..He has no offensive skills..He did the right thing ..by trying to improve his overall game...
I thought he was an NBA caliber player with his defensive instincts and length...
good move for him. Job security is priority #1 for a guy in his position. BUt my question to miami is why draft him at that spot in the 2nd round and not have a spot on the 15 man roster for him. Then again, depending on what happens with haslem it may be a spot open
The Heat went through the draft not knowing they were going to sign LBJ and Bosh, that is why they drafted Varnado. I'm sure the original intention was for him to play for them, but after the 'decision' plans started to change.
