Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWe haven’t really talked about head coaching changes here. What is the best hiring and worst hiring so far?
I think the worst? Avery Johnson. I dislike the fact NJ bought into the hype. He has a amazing record but he had Dirk in his peak seasons. I think that, even though this Nets team has cap space to bring in FA’s and the 3rd pick- I don’t think Johnson is the coach to bring up the young guns ( Lee, Williams, Lopez, Favors)
Also, What do you think about Mark Jackson as a head coach down the road? I don’t think he should be a head coach. I feel he should earn it. He never had a head coaching nor assistant coaching position, why would a team risk hiring him?
Thoughts?

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantYea I like Avery but more of as an Analyst, they mention he has the best winning percentage, he coached for what three seasons with a damn good Mavericks team and they failed to make the second round I think twice? To me it isn’t a matter of bringing up young players, I think he can do that but I have my doubts about him actually being able to take them to the Finals down the road, consistently I mean. He is a good regular season coach but I do not really trust his methods in the Playoffs.
I like Mark Jackson and when he does play by play anaylsis but I agree he is not a guy you want coaching or to help coach your team, sure he understands the game of Basketball but he is not the type of guy to be a successful coach and really help a team out, I respect him a lot though do not get me wrong.

the I in winParticipantDevin Harris has said many times that he liked Avery Johnson and wanted him back, if he was bad with young players I don’t think Harris would say that.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantOk so a play by play analyst should be a head coach? Might aswell make Mike Breen a coach too. How about Stuart Scott? Maybe we should make Mike Terrico a coach while we’re at it!!

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantI just said he wouldn’t be suitable for a coaching position at any sort, didn’t you read my post? I said I liked him as a play by play analyst not a coaching position.
