An NBA source has said that “Bibby was, according to league sources, close to re-signing with Atlanta on Friday…”. Thank goodness! I was hoping they would, so they could give Teague some time to learn on the bench. This however, kind of creates a log jam in terms of the guards on the roster. Bibby, Crawford, and Joe Johnson are all start worthy, and I dont think either Crawford or Johnson are moving to the 3 unless we go small. Crawford could be a spark off the bench, but with Johnson and Bibby playing 40+ min a night, I dunno where that leaves Crawford, to at least give him satisfiable amount of PT. He could sub in for both, but thats only 16 minutes. Hopefully we trade him for a big man, or draft picks, as our front court is a little thin behind Horford and marvin.

I really like Mike Bibby as a player even at his age and he really helps that team that had no playoff experience before hand and if they had to throw Teague out there right away it could’ve been horrible because I don’t think they can start Johnson nor Crawford at the Point.

Ya, but wat do you think happens to Crawford? Hes too expensive to have the Flip Murray roll. Right now, hes the odd man out.

Bibby is getting up there in age so they could consider resting him more unless really needed in order to keep Crawford happy. I don’t know, doesn’t make sense at all to resign Bibby and trade for Crawford when they are in the East and should really worry about contending with the Bigs now with Shaq, Dwight, Big Z, Bosh, O’ Neal, K.G, etc. Horford is good as well as Zaza, but it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra…Who’s their PF? Are they planning to resign M. Williams?

Ya, thats a good point. I dunno, I thought Flip was a good enough back up, so im thinking they trade crawford for a big man. Maybe one of LACs overflowing amount of big men.

idk if a deal has been made yet but i though marvin williams was a free agent? i was thinking if he is the hawks may decide to let him go and resign zaza. if thats the case i wouldnt mind seeing joe johnson move to the 3 and crawford feel in at the two guard. I would think the team would start: pg Bibby, sg Crawford, sf Johnson, Pf Smith, C Horford. this would lead to a really uptempo offense and plenty of break oppurtunities. Just a thought

Clips only want to trade Kaman since Camby is an expiring contract and they have enough scoring so they can afford to lose Kaman. This gives them even more money to be players in the 2010 Summer. Flip was pretty good last year too. I don’t know what ATL is planning on doing.

I think the Hawks just stay small with Bibby, Crawford, leaving Johnson at the 3. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind taking on the challenge of guarding the LeBron’s, Pierce’s, and Lewis’ of the league. He’s a gamer, and on my top 5 fav team (Chris Paul, Joe Johnson, Danny Granger, Paul Millsap, Nene). That leaves Teague to play a Murray role, and Mo Evans as the backup swingman. As for the lack of depth of bigs, they should make all attempts to re-sign Pachulia, and/or see if they can sneak in and take a player like Drew Gooden or Chris Wilcox. They could also settle for players like Melvin Ely, Ryan Hollins, and Jamaal Magloire as realistic solutions, or they can work a sign-and-trade with Marvin Williams. Simply re-signing him would be a waste, as his numbers no make no difference in the course of the season.

How much did they sign Bibby for and how long? Personally I am not a big fan of Bibby’s. I loved him coming out of college, but I don’t think he has progressed the way he should have. He always gets destroyed on defense and disappears in big games. They might want to hold onto Crawford no matter what though because I doubt Joe Johnson is coming back once his contract is up. I really think they need to do something to find away to get Horford more touches on offense and to move him to PF. Last year he got the 6th most shots on the team. That’s not good for his development. The Hawks really aren’t good enough to not get him more involved. Plus Bibby is going to keep Teague on the bench. Being realistic, the Hawks aren’t winning a championship anytime soon.

people tend to forget that before Bibby got there, they were the 11th seed in the East. he helped them get to the 8 spot. and he helped lead them to the 4 spot this year and was the most consistant player in the playoffs for them till game 3 and 4 of the Cavs series. you ask around and Joe Johnson will say that Bibby helped him out a great deal as will Josh Smith and Horford. sure his defense is sub par, he doesn’t attack the basket like he used to and is older but he’s still the best shooting point guard in the NBA (according to Kenny Smith and Gary Payton), he is the veteran that can help Teague grow the way Law didn’t and he’s still clutch. i love that ATL resigned him, now I hope Sund shapes the roster more to be a contending team
