zha123Participantquestion about this guy…does anyone know the reason hes at marshall? was he not a big named recruit coming out of highschool or was their a personal reason behind his decision to play there? did he not get recruited by anyone else?

M-DYMESParticipantApparently he was considering Kentucky. Can you imagine him down low with Cousins?

gatorheelsParticipantHe was a 4 star recruit coming out of high school so he wasn’t some unknown recruit. Charlotte also offered him a scholarship. I know Whiteside was interested in Kentucky & UConn. Not sure if UK & UConn were really interested in Whiteside.

MagikKnickParticipantThats a really good question….
Based on this:
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Hassan-Whiteside-83699He got offers from Kentucky, Mississipi State, South Florida, & St. Johns to name a few…
Why he picked Marshal is a mystery to me..

M-DYMESParticipantI read some more about him and I guess during his freshman year he was about a foot shorter than he is now and was playing guard at the time. By his senior year in HS, he grew to 6’11 and was a 20-10 guy. Pretty damn impressive making that big of a transition in 4 years.

M-DYMESParticipantOnly logical explanations for picking Marshall…
1. Is a Randy Moss fan
2. Likes the color green
3. Had no other choice
4. Biddies (ugh, West Virginia biddies?)
5. Wanted to be the star on a team, try to possibly take an outside team to the Tourney
6. Wanted to look good against worse competition due to his sizeSidenote: His pops played in the NFL for the Vikings and Bucs

He committed to Marshall before receiving other offers and sticked to it. Sounds like a good kid. Enjoy!
