Interesting prospect. Multi talented forward decent athletism good IQ etc etc although a bit thin for pf perhaps. Before the second knee injury I could see why he was being touted as a top pick candidate. After the second injury and sitting out his whole senior year I started to have my doubts. Mainly about his durabilty but also the development time he may have missed due to rehab etc. Now he’s had a third knee op (seems minor) but this has to be the epitome of a red flag yet he is still in the top 5. Now obv its preseason by I just dont see how so much can be expected of a guy who has not really played in well over a year and has just had problems with the same injury area. Maybe guys are seeing him as a cant miss type ? idk

What sort of stats are you expecting from Mr Giles and is he in your top 5. Just wanted to know if its just me?

top 10 still but so many questions including will his game actually translate to college well

The injuries scare me and I would rather take someone I know will be healty to start at least. Maybe someone might take a shot since he is so talented in the top 10. Depends if he can play through the NCAA tournament I think.

Giles has fantastic size 6’10 225 at age 18 isn’t bad at all but there has to be concerns with the injurys at this point. The 3 surgeries before his 20th birthday suggest he has chronic knee issues. He’s young so if he does become completely healthy he has a chance to put the injurys behind him. He’s obviously very skilled and talented but not worth a top 5 pick if he can only play 20 minutes per game.

Giles is a good talent, but the draft this year is too deep with potential breakout stars. Can’t risk a top-5 pick on him at this point.

The operation Giles just had was just a scope. Should be out for 6-8 weeks at most and will at least be able to resume physical activities in two weeks.

Duke is planning on bringing him along slowly (and have the depth to do so) so I doubt we’ll see the full extent to what Harry can do until the middle of the conference season.

Giles is a stud.  Obviously I’m dissappointed Roy couldn’t get him to come to Carolina, but Roy hasn’t gotten any top tier talent to come to Chapel Hill since Harrison Barnes.  It doesn’t help when you have possible NCAA sanctions looming.  Of course having 3 knee operations before your 20th birthday is a red flag.  With a no knee surgery and fully healthy Giles, Duke is scary good.  They still have decent post guys in Marques Bolden, Chase Jeter and Amille Jefferson, but Giles is on another level than thos guys.  I don’t see Giles having a Okafor like impact in Durham.  He’ll spend most of his one season at Duke trying to get healthy.  He’ll be a good player, but we won’t see the really special Harry Giles if/when he is completely healthy and has had a full year to train and that won’t be this year.

Guy is obviously very talented but latest operation is another concern given the amout of surgeries he’s had before he has even played in NCAA let alone NBA. But I agree that Duke will bring him along slowly, Coach K will gradually increase his workload. If he plays a full remaining season when he is fit, then he remains clear top big in his draft year.

He may have to think about getting his Duke education. Dont want him to be injury prone and be oiut the league in 3 years. There may be other options for him. He needs to understand that. I love Harry though, dude is a beast but I hope he he is smart and dos right. Injuries suck

only being in the league for three years, he would have made millions, and just go back to school.
