Word is that Barnes won’t make an announcement until the deadline (April 24). This years draft appears to be much weaker than the 2012 draft but I don’t think Barnes’ draft stock can be hurt if he stays another year at UNC. Barnes vs Rivers next year will be quite a show.

I’m more looking forward to Barnes vs Gilchrist to be honest. They are more likely to match up against each other, especially as Gilchrist likes the challenge of guarding the other team’s best player. I have these two pegged as being rivals even in the NBA, should be a lot of fun to watch.

I think he’s going, but he’s not 100% sure.  I really think if he were coming back, he’d annouce with Henson and Zeller.

That’s what most ppl said about Lebron going to Miami.. That if he were going he would have announced it w/ Bosh. Maybe Barnes wants his own “Decision Special” on ESPN….
I Hope he stays not really a Carolina fan but it’ll definetly make next season more interesting

I actually think he’s gonna stay now. ESPN just showed that Henson and Zeller are staying and i read that Barnes was tryna convince them to stay because he fills they have a good chance of winning it all next season. I could be wrong and he declares anyway but thats just what ive been reading

Everyone is their own man so will make their decisions in their own time, he may gague his draft stock a bit before he finally decides.

Harrison Barnes go get your money! I feel personally it wouldn’t hurt him if he’d stayed another year, but your not guaranteed winning a championship as we saw this past season. I truly believe he loves college and being the big man on campus, but money talks and the b.s. walks. Also everybody loves the new flavor of the month and the Kentucky and Duke teams are all people are going to talk about. We already saw Harrison in college so the excitement won’t be as pronounced as it would be with all the new decorated freshman coming in. My verdict is he’s going pro, if he wasn’t he would have already announced that he wants to stay a North Carolina.

Possibly. But Zeller and Henson waited this long to say they are gonna stay so theres no time frame as far as when a player is gonna stay or go

If I were him, you can’t turn down the money and guaranteed top 5 pick in this weak draft. But he is great and will do his thing and will probably get drafted high regardless. Same with B.Knight. UK fan here and would love to see him stay in Blue and White, but weak class and he had an awesome tourny. He’s going to be lottery, so go pro.

With the NBA and the NFL potentially being locked out…we want all the college players to stay. As much as I am a U of Washington fan, I want the good players in both sports coming back so I have some pro level talent to watch!!

There is a slim chance that the NBA has a full season next year so I hope that every good player who is on the fence stays.  I’m also beginning to pray that my Sixers trade their pick for one next year.

It will be interesting to see if some teams look to trade picks as 2012 draft picks now probably look more valuable than this year’s. But there will be canny GM’s who may look to move up this year or try to extract the hidden talent.

As regards Harrison Barnes, his draft stock could fall or rise next year so it’s frankly his decision. The worse case scenario for declaring is a lockout and the worse case scenario for staying is his draft value falls or any injury happens.

Does anyone know what sort of background he is from socially and financially, is there any reason he might need to declare for this reason at all, I haven’t heard anything but wondered if anyone knew?

go to the L. HWy stay in college and potentially lose money and draft status. its already a weak draft class and seriously what can roy williams teach barnes that an NBA coach wont be able to teach him. Go get the money young man. top 3 pick i think he will end up

I agree that his draft status is preserved if there is a lockout but he’d only be doing shoot arounds for a year unless he decided to try his luck abroad for a year.

If there is a lockout, I could see a few of the bigger European teams looking at the draft class very closely as although the players would be drafted they may not have signed an NBA contract so that puts the Euro teams in a much stronger position than if they try to sign under contract NBA players.
