TarHeelRavenParticipant36 years old today. Insane killer instinct, one of the greatest competitors in all of sports. Rivals Jordan in work ethic and competitiveness. Doesn’t care about being liked or hurting other peoples feelings. Steve Nash recently described Kobe as a mother f?$&@? a&$&?@! Happy birthday Kobe.

llperezbeen a great 19 years so far and regardless of how the lakers do, i hope he gets another couple years of health to finish his career the right way so he can leave on his own terms.
As for him being an a-hole, yeah their are tons of stories out there. I’ve seen video of him cursing at steve blake in shooting drills becasue he didnt like the way blake was passing him the ball. Reportedly, while everyone was trying to butter up dwight and talk him into coming back, kobe said dwight needed him if he wanted to learn how to win and that kobe was one of the main reasons dwight wanted out. Going back to even his teenage days he would get into it with shaq and everyone on the team sided with shaq becasue kobe wasnt friendly. But to me as a fan, all i see is a fiery competitor. I wouldnt want him to be any other way.

HitsterParticipantKobe has a burning desire to win at all costs like few other players I’ve ever seen. Sure he pisses people off but few can argue with 5 titles, 31,000 plus career points, 81 point game, 15 All NBA team appearances in succession ( joint record holder with Kareem) including 11 first team selections ( joint record holder with Karl Malone), MVP award, double Olympic Gold Medalist etc.
I want to see Kobe back and scoring again, the Lakers may not be the strongest team this coming season but we could see Kobe putting up great stats again.

ahuang16ParticipantLast night, I watched a rerun of his 81 point game against Toronto. Just the way he attacked the defense, completely fearless, was inspiring. The fans were going nuts and it was truly an experience to watch that again.
I know he’ll be back scoring the ball this season.
On a completely unrelated note, in that game there was Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm. At the same time! Also got to see some Jalen Rose for the Raptors. Charlie V was impressive that first half. Odom had a sweet behind the back pass to Smush Parker. Ahh the memories.

HitsterParticipantGrandmama has hit it on the head about Kobe – he will always be seen as the 2nd best SG ever behind Michael Jordan, in a slight way it diminishes his greatness.
