Diallo’s stock went all over the place throughout the season. Prior to the start, he was a projected lottery pick then he worked himself out of the first-round mocks to possibly not being a ready prospect for the draft. Although he is just an above-average athlete, I liked the fact that he had confidence to take those mid-range shots throughout the year. His high intensity level of defensive play was very key in the NCAA tournament.

He’s a huge project right now. Good physical tools but skill set and basketball iq is extremely lacking. Whatever team drafts him is likely banking on the fact that he can develop into a useful 3 and d guy in their g-league system, as he is no where near ready to step onto an nba floor right now. I definitely don’t see a team taking a chance on him in the first round, but I guess stranger things have happened. More likely second round to undrafted imo, depending how he does in the combine.

Guys must be allergic to going to class because there is no way on this planet or any other planet that Diallo should be declaring for the draft.

A 10 day contract is worth $50 grand for a rookie $75 grand for a sophmore. Thats pretty good money worst case scenerio. Odds are a team is willing to invest some money into Hami as well and offer him a partially gauranteed contract if he doesnt get drafted. Thats a millions bucks right there with a possible team option. Im sure that can buy him a good education if ball doesnt work out. Besides hes got a good shot of being picked in the 1st round which is at least $3 Mil gauranteed with another $4 Mil on team option and another $3 Mil qualifying. Seems like a good buisness decision to me.

He’s a great athlete but what else does he have to offer right now? For all his physical tools, he’s not exactly a standout defender, he’s not really a shooter or a playmaker either.

He’ll probably be an early-mid second round pick because of his upside (freakish length + athleticism), but he’s going to struggle on both ends if he were to play in the NBA next year. He would be best used in the G-League for a while.

Like TarHeelRaven said, why on earth would he declare? He should’ve stayed in school. Heck, he would’ve been better off going to the draft last year based on his 44" vertical and being so unknown.

I agree for the most part but I disagree about his defense. He was rough all year in just about every aspect, but the thing that he made a big improvement in (which I think gave him the confidence to have those big games in the tournament) was his defense. He proved he has potential to be a really good defender. He guarded guys all the way out around half court, he had some big blocks in transition and in the half court, and he had a nose for loose balls. I think if he ever finds a spot on a team, it will in large part be because of his defense

He also has just as much potential in transition, especially if he plays with a guard that can get it to him in the right spot. I don’t think he’ll ever fit in well in a half court set, but in the open court he can be pretty good

Diallo is a mid second rounder to me right now.  I like the Archie Goodwin comparisons for him as they were both raw athletic slashers going into the draft.

Rob Diaz, Hami Diallo’s mentor, on report he’s turning pro: ‘No the family and I will be meeting with him next week to make a decision on what’s he feels is best for him. Anything else out as of now is just a rumor.’
