knicksfan7ParticipantAfter watching him play against team USA I believe in him as a player in the NBA. Not as a starter, but a backup that plays the full 82 game season once he gets his conditioning up, which I think he will. Though Memphis has a deep front court with Marc Gasol and Hasheem Thabeet where Haddadi won’t get many minutes, but put him in the right situation I can see him getting 15-20 minutes in 3 seasons or so. What he does have to work on his shot selection. He could have had 25-30 points today if he played more down low instead of settling for jump shots.
I really don’t care how many negatives I get for this, but I wanted to mention this.

McDunkinhe has a nice offensive skill set for a 7’2 guy. i was impressed when he tried to draw a foul with the pump fake at the 3 point line. Thats rare for an over seven footer

knicksfan7ParticipantGood point on that McDunkin, that was a good move by him. Though, he shouldn’t be on the perimeter rather down low making his presence felt. No way Iran would have beat us, but if he played more down low they could have kept the game more in reach in the first half.

Da1potParticipantHe’s talented and has some good footwork, he just needs to play like he’s 7’2. He can be a solid backup center in the league and a fringe starter. He has solid offensive potential, too.

knicksfan7ParticipantIf by fringe starter you mean only when the starter gets hurt then I can see it. I agree he needs to play more inside and not hang around the perimeter.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantQuite a few players would struggle to get on the floor when Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are in front of them, and the reality is that with Thabeet waiting in the wings Haddadi won’t get an extended look until he is moved to another team.

knicksfan7ParticipantYeah I said that in my original post, that he would have to go elsewhere to get minutes.

bobbybParticipantif memphis would have drafted rubio, he probably would have come because he would make more money so he could pay his buyout and be with his paesano marc gasol. Instead they draft thabeet when they already have a decent backup centre. I think his salary would have been over 5 mil more over the term at 2 than 5

bkballerParticipantIts unfortunate too because Memphis’ only glaring weakness in their starting line up is the PG. Rubio would have made that team very dangerous. A great passer with scorers like Mayo, Gay and Randolph and a solid defensive center in Gasol….that team would be very good.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantHamed has a very high basketball IQ ..He played good in a couple of games when Thabeet was sent to the D-League….but his problem is he lacks stamina & conditioning..he gets tired and becomes ineffective if he plays more then 20 minutes..i dont see him as a starter in this league..but he will make a nice backup for some teams…Playing in these games and being Iran’s go to guy will do wonders for his confidence next season…

ghettosermonParticipant^^ The problem is that isn’t necessarily a good thing. Being a go to scorer is not what the Grizz want him to do. They want him to rebound, block shots, and scrap inside. All 3 of those things are his biggest weaknesses and nothing he is doing in the World Championships is aiding that. If anything he’s becoming even lazier on defense and on the boards since he has to initiate the offense every time down. His got some nice skills for a 7-2″ guy but until he can do the things that you’d expect from a 7-2″ guy he’ll never get consistent minutes.

JoeWolf1I agree with you knicksfan7, He is really skilled, I think he could be a good backup for another team. You guys are right the Grizz have too much invested in Thabeet for him to get a real fair look, but I think he could be a good #2 center for another team looking for frontcourt depth.

PlatypusParticipantCharlie V and Dajuan Summers for Hammed Haddadi and Mike Conley
Memphis gets depth at the forward positions and a power forward who can stretch the floor
Detroit finally gets a 7 footer and cap space
Mayo – Vasquez – Law
Henry – Allen – Young
Gay – Young – Summers
Randolph – Charlie V – Carrol
Gasol – Thabeet – ArthurStuckey – Bynum – Conley
Rip – BG – White
Prince – T-mac / Daye
Jerebko – Monroe – Maxiell
Wallace – Haddadi – Wilcox0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/02/2010 - 4:25am #392350
