I realize its too early to do a real mock draft because so many things change, the way I went about this was I assumed every eligable player would declare (so even if a freshman is only getting a few minutes I still added them to my list), I only added the top three international guys (that includes Mudiay), and I took team needs into account (although I have no clue what most players contract situations are). Its just something I did for fun but opinions are welcome as long as they are constructive, I’m sure people have seen a lot more of certain players than I have, but I do follow college basketball pretty closely.

I don’t have a lot of objections to your list. I would bump Oubre way up if he declares this year. Someone will take a chance on the guy who was in a lot of top 4 mocks a month ago.

I would also bump Christian Wood way up.

I think the Philadelphia pick at 31 goes to Boston. Brimah might be a stretch here for Boston but he has potential as a rim protector.

I think the Clippers owe the 23 pick to Boston for hiring Rivers as coach.

LaVert at 4? I watch a lot of BIG 10 bball and I wouldn’t take him over Winslow or Johnson. Tyus Jones should be waaaaay higher.

Bump up: Justice Winslow, Stanley Johnson, Frank Kaminsky (he is insanely good and someone will pick him up), Marcus Paige, and Brice Johnson.

Bump down: Jahlil Okafor (based on need), Caris LeVert, Kristaps Porzingis, RJ Hunter, and Andrew Harrison

Missing: Joseph Young (he is a beast at Oregon averaging over 20 points a game), Ryan Boatright (He played well last year during the championship game, and has experience to be picked up by a championship contender)

I do like the mock though, we will have to see how it plays out.

Wow, I didn’t realize the Knicks were that bad.

Towns would be a great pick at 3.  SIZE and UPSIDE.

Did you leave out Rondae Hollis-Jefferson?  He is a name with some game.

For the Grizzlies, I actually think that Courtney Lee is very, very solid.  Tony Allen has his moments –more on the defensive side.  BIG problem at the 3.  Quincy Pondexter is extraordinarily average (at best). Tay Prince is OLD.

Clearly we need help at the 3.  We have done well when we had a guy like James Posey or Shane Battier or James Johnson.

What about Kuran Iverson?  Guy with a name and a solid rep.  Hasn’t done much as of yet but he is tall and can handle the ball.  Had a good move for a score and a nice pass leading to a dunk in the Tigers’ last game.  Would love to have some youth, size, length, and playmaking at the 3.

Looks like a pretty good draft.

Some say that Ryan Boatright was left out.  Yeah, AT WORST he is a 3rd string point guard.  Van Fleet is another guy in that range.  With 13 player active roster there is more room now to carry a 3rd string point guard.

Perry Ellis should probably be on here too.

I don’t see Niang falling out of the first round. He seems like a guy that could come right in and contribute and teams like the Spurs, Blazers, Grizzlies, Mavs, Raptors, Wizards, and Cavs should all be looking for a versatile 6-8 shooter who can come off their bench. He doesn’t have great athleticism as evident by his 0 blocks so far this season but he has the skill set to get 12 minutes a game for a contender right away as a stretch 4.

Like you said way to early but I agree with most of your top 10 as all being reasonable options for those teams if they were to fall there…which we both know outside of philly and the lakers there are no locks for beyond the worst 2 teams

okafor is a lock in the top 3 no one else is yet imo.

FYI cavs own heats 2015 first rounder (top 10 protected).

Miami won’t miss the playoffs imo so the cavs have 2 first rounders.

I don’t agree that the cavs would take harrison at all.

Looks for the cavs to take a seasoned player if they pick late first like powell, kaminski,or one of the guards from witchita st.

with the miami pick in the 15-25 range I look for the cavs to go bpa interior defender, unless there is a can’t miss perimiter defender on the bd.

the cavs also have 2 2nd rounders although the likelyhood the picks are anything but trade chips is unlikely.

I hated making that Harrison pick for the cavs, I just couldn’t find a good fit. Obviously there were guys left off who will probably be drafted since not all these guys will declare, but I’m just not high on undersized players like perry ellis or boatright, and I’m really big on shooting so thats why I don’t think LeVert is much of a stretch altough Johnson does have more upside. Unless you are seeing something in practice I don’t see how I could put Iverson on here or move Oubre up more than a couple spots.

Good analysis, but a lot of teams have traded their pick.

    http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

The big ones are that Phoenix has the Lakers’s top 5 protected pick, Chicago has Sacramento’s top 10 protected pick, Houston has New Orleans’s top 3 and 20-30 protected pick, the Lakers have Houston’s top 14 protected pick, and Philly has Miami’s top 10 protected pick. Also, Atlanta can swap picks with Brooklyn. There are a couple other owed picks that look unlikely to be conveyed.

Boston owns LAC pick I believe. As for the Sixers, they need to pick the BPA even if it’s a Bigman. 1984 Portland had the 2nd pick and had just drafted Clyde Drexler the year before. They needed a center, drafted All-American center Sam Bowie and passed on a SG named Jordan.

Philly could always just trade a Big down the road.

    good overall effort though.
