Just got back from the Blazer game…Heck of a game.

I was impressed with Oden tonight. He had 2 early fouls (both were terrible calls) and was a non factor in the 1st half.

However, I was very impressed with how he responded. He rebounded, blocked shots and scored when he got position. He is just so physically dominating. He even hit a nice mid range jumper (expect to see more of that later in the season). I would say Oden outplayed Duncan tonight. He’s also shooting close to 80% from the line if anybody hasn’t noticed. Expect the Blazers to go on a nice winning streak and handle the 6 game road trip well(6 games in 7 days? ridicolus).

    Thoughts on the game?

And we should’ve drafted Dejuan Blair instead of Cunningham…Blair is a straight up baller and is averaging close to a double double in 21 mpg and behind the greatest PF of all time…Crazy how he didn’t go top-15.

watched it..he played well although i agree wit the fouls because you cant slide youre feet while holding youre hands straight in the air and hit someone wit youre body and not expec to get a foul call…i did notice once again his fouls come from him and not because the guards..like the announcer said” oden needs to learn to not try to block every shot”..i liked how blake and miller played d. bayless did a lil bit in his time..his defense is suspect though…a good game for portland

Oden played very well this game! He needed this game for his confidence. This is what I expect from him every game (throw in a few more rebounds). He definitely outplayed Duncan at both ends tonight, but Duncan is not quite himself. You can definitely see that he’s slowing down a little. That knee injury he suffered is not allowing him to move like he used to. Hopefully he’ll get stronger as the season continues. The Spurs just looked old out there, BUT despite the way the game started… They had a chance to win the game.

Oden showed improvement this game. He was more patient on offense and confident. He gave Duncan the shoulder fake and went up with the hook shot. He also faced Duncan up and shot the jumper. He finished well around the basket. Most importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over as much in the post. He wasn’t sloppy. On defense, he was MUCH improved. He still needs to work on little things like not trying to block every shot, avoiding too much contact with his body, keeping his hands STRAIGHT up at all times and just sliding his feet. That block on Manu was perfect.

Q… Once again, I don’t know what game you were watching lol. George Hill was beating Steve Blake off the dribble with ease. Manu and RJ were able to get into the lane. It was a little better, but the perimeter defense still needs much improvement. Oden was just able to block a few shots without picking up the fouls this game. Like I said… He’ll block a few, but eventually pick up a few fouls if the perimeter defense consistently gets broken down and players are allowed to get into the lane.

it mut have been the fourt quarter cuz thats the only part i didnt watch..he was beating bayless off the dribble constantly when he came in when he scored 4 points..i did see that..and oden picked up his fouls because he doesnt know when to not try to block shots and move his feet..even the commentators said it in the first quarter

Yea… True… That’s where a few of his fouls come from, but I’m just saying… Their lack of consistent perimeter defense doesn’t help any of Portland’s bigs. Oden had 5 and Aldridge had 4 last night.

actually i turned back for some of the fourth where hill drove past bradon roy and brandon roy fouled him(did the same thing in the trhid to wit roy checking him..also aw blake stopping parker from getting into the lane before he got hurt..to be honest i seen more people drive past roy/outlaw/rudy then blake

Portland’s perimeter defense is bad period lol. They all get beat, but I see Blake consistently struggling to contain other point guards.

Let’s get back on that Mayo vs Gordon debate Q lol. I think Gordon has been better on both offense AND defense! Mayo gave up 48 to Kevin Martin and then 41 to Kobe. I know Mayo didn’t defend those two every possession, but he did for majority of the games.

Memphis vs Clippers tonight. What’s your predicition lol?

oh you know i was looking at that date on the schedule..lol….im not gonna make too much of a big deal out of either of those since kobe is kobe and anyone who watched that game could see that martin was on fire..also kobe and martin scored on more then just mayo because other players were checking them..both times they put others on those guys and they still scored

It should be a good game though. Mayo vs Gordon. You already know these two go at each other lol. Randolph vs the Clippers. I think he’ll try to give them the business for trading him. Gasol vs Kaman… Both centers have been playing extremely well.

yeah in the second half when a guard would get into the lane he blocked the shots or altered shots without fouling….people dont realize that you are never gonna be on a tem where the guards dont get into the lane at least once every 3 times so as a big man you have to know how to play defense where u wont pick up the foul…like i mention mutombo..iversons man used to get into the lane at will but mutombo learned to play d and block shots without always getting tinto foul trouble..im sure oden will eventually learnt to do that consistantly…what i didnt know is that the blazers are ranked 30th is point in the paint

Duncan wasn’t himself and Parker was out if both played and were healthy most likely Oden gets into deep foul trouble. #1 draft pick finally payingn dividends lets see how long it lasts.

Stop talking trash the Knicks suck and LeBron isn’t going to your trashy team. You wish you had someone as talented as Oden on your team.

And also, Parker didn’t do anything in the game even before he got injured. Stop making excuses. Oden played well…Give the man his credit when it’s due.

I am begging you Greg Oden! Hope you could play with consistency… You did a great job against the Spurs! 14 pts 8 rebounds and FOUR blocks? That’s a good game coming from a guy who doesn’t really need to put a 20-20… He just needs to do the same things like these with a little bit of consistency… Great job…

If he wasn’t in foul trouble. I still don’t understand how people push and shove Oden and get away with it, but if he even touches someone…FOUL! It’s getting pretty ridicolous. For every 3 fouls, I’d probably say 1-2 fouls were legit…Not trying to make excuses, but sometimes you just gotta let the big fella’s play.

    Hahaha… I get your point… 5 Fouls that’s a lot… He couldn’t get it going if he’s in foul trouble…
