Greg Monroe to the Pistons

I was just thinking about the Pistons pick at #7 and the more I think about it the more it makes sense for them to draft Greg Monroe if he is available. The Pistons' certainly have a weakness in the front court and this draft has plenty of tough hard nosed players who can rebound and block shots that would fit great with the type of team Dumars likes to build. Cole Aldrich seems like a possibility with his willingness to do the garbage work, NBA level shot blocking and interior defense, but what kind of players has Detroit added to their roster in the past year or so? perimeter shooters. Ben Gordon, Charlie V and Austin Daye are all capable outside shooters so a big man with excellent passing ability makes a ton of sense and Greg Monroe is very good and has enough post moves and presense down low to draw defenders( although not double teams...yet) and kick it out to the Pistons outside shooters. Detroit spent a ton of money on those free agents and I think this pick would make a lot of sense for the Pistons.

Thoughts?

If they add Monroe, they'd

If they add Monroe, they'd have to find some team that would take Villanueva, his uglyness, and his contract.

never trust a man with no eyebrows

Yeah, I was baffled why they spent so much money on him. They could co-exist as Monroe adjusts to the NBA, but from a long term standpoint I agree, it'd be in their best interest to dump Villanueva. Jerebko is a very good young forward and Daye is a very similar player to Charile. Those two plus Monroe, Ben Gordon and Stucky could be an exciting young lineup and put with seasoned vets like Prince, Wallace and Rip that could be a signifacantly better team with just a lottery pick and a year of improvement for the younger players.

prince may be moved but

prince may be moved but Hamilton contract does not look like it is going anywhere. Detroit has some solid pieces that if they wanted to go young now would be the time to do it.

Detroit is in a bad position

Detroit is in a bad position that they have bad contracts and some old players. At this point I think they need to blow their team up. If they keep their pick they need to take the BPA as they need help everywhere.

JoeWolf Monroe to Detroit makes a ton of sense to me, but I don't trust Dumars enough as a talent evaluator to expect Detroit to take him.

i disagree mr. 6000.... i

i disagree mr. 6000.... i really think charlie v is meant to play small forward... while subbing in sometimes at pf... he is their insurance once tay either gets traded or next season ends... which would leave them with a lineup of stuckey hamilton gordon backcourt, charlie v, monroe, big ben, jerebko frontcourt...

they need demarcus cousins so badly its not even funny... i think they should try to give tayshaunand #7 to the wolves for either the #4 so they can get cousins, or make a deal for jefferson...

monroe to detroit

i got monroe to detroit in my mock draft as well. i think he measured out well enough to even play some center, but he has the skills to really help a team with no frontcourt depth like detroit.
