I saw another thread critiquing the Heat’s Finals run which I think is stupid because they beat who they had to beat…regardless I was wondering what everyone thought was the best Finals run only to eventually not win it all.

Mine would be the Celtics in 2010. They beat Miami 4-1 despite a monster series from Dwayne Wade. Then beat the Lebron-led Cavs in 6 with a legendary series from Rondo. Then beat the reigning Eastern Conference Champions Dwight Howard led Magic in 6.

This was an old beat up team that was the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference and they are going to the Finals and against the reigning champion Lakers. Seemed like it’d be a story book ending if they won it all doesn’t it? Sadly they lose in 7 against Kobe Bryant and Co. after giving up a lead in the last five minutes.

They faced arguably the 4 best players in the league and came up 5 minutes short. Me being a Celtics fan, I was crushed.

I might be talking like a homer here, but OKC had a great playoffs last year. Sweep the defending champion Dallas Mavericks, beat the Lakers in 5 games, and beat the Spurs 4 straight games when everyone said it would be a San Antonio-Miami Finals. They had a very good Finals for it being their first one as a team (and most as individuals), a couple calls different and they could’ve went 7 games. I’ve never had a team give me chills like they do, and Durant’s game winner in the very first game against the Mavs is an instant classic

Utah Jazz in 97 and 98. They came extremely close to beating probably two of the best teams in NBA history in the Chicago Bulls. Too bad Stockton and Malone couldn’t quite pull it out

akhan, still can’t believe that game 7 in LA, Perkins injures shoulder, Celtics blow a 17 point lead and friggin MWP hits that three at the end…Celts should’ve won that game, they blew it.

That celts vs lakers game 7 was the last time I gambled on basketball. I still can’t belive that Artest 3 went in.

There was also the Celtics 1987 injury plagued run, Mchale playing on a broken foot, Bird struggling with his back, sweeping a young Jordan in the first round. Didn’t come as close to winning as 2010 though.

Ahh… 2010, what a great finals. Good times for sure. And lol at any celtics fan who points out how Perkins missed game 7 but forgets to mention Bynum missed all series in 2008. Plus Ariza wasn’t healthy then either.

should be in the conversation at least. They went 64-18 that year and nobody knew it basically because they ran into the best Chicago Bulls team ever. And that Sonics team still put up a good fight in the finals.

subzero. i had said the SAME thing man. "" Sweep the defending champion Dallas Mavericks, beat the Lakers in 5 games, and beat the Spurs 4 straight games"….. definitely one of the most impressive runs in my basketball life time.

they went 4-5-and4 against the toughest teams in the league. meanwhile miami played a Lin-less and shumpert-less knocks, no bulls cuss they didn’t have rose, and boston with hurt allen and no avery bradly
