Grant Jerrett

Grant Jerrett declares for the NBA draft after one year at Arizona. Daniel Orton anyone? Another freshmen that didn't have a very good year leaves school after proving very little. The Wildcats would have been extremely deep in their front court with Aaron Gordon and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson coming in and still having Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski staying. What are you opinions on Grant Jerrett and his surprising decision to leave school.

I personally think he should have stuck around another year or two.

a year or two?

Maybe even three?

Second rounder, then off to the Euroleague.

So I'm the only one on his

So I'm the only one on his hype train around here? I guess time will tell. But one difference between orton and grant is that grant has actual skills. I dont know if he has NBA 3 point range right now, but he should be able to stick 20 rooters all day. He has soft hands and good touch in the paint.

I agree with you. Grant

I agree with you. Grant Jerret has a very advanced skill set, and the ability to be a stretch four in the league. Daniel Orton had/has no skill whatsoever.

I expected Jerret to be the best big for Arizona this year. However, he just didn't seem to get the consistent minutes to be able to get into the flow of the game and showcase his skill set. He still needs to bulk up to be able to score in the league. He has the post moves to score, just getting bumped off of his shots will hurt him early in his career. For a good reference of what I'm talking about for bulking up, look at Tyler Zeller. Zeller has a great hook with either his left or right, but struggles to score in the post because he gets bumped off his shot by bulkier, more physical defenders.

I wouldn't mind the Thunder taking a gamble on this kid. I think his offensive skill set would be perfect for them. The Thunder already are defensive oriented in the front court. A player like Jerret could really open up driving lanes for Westbrook and Durant.

My bad

I'm not suggesting they have the same skill set. I should have clarified that. I was suggesting that Jerrett, much like Orton left after one very underwhelming season in school. That's why I name dropped Daniel Orton
