OhCanada-ParticipantReally wanna see the Zags take this one but what are the odds UNC loses back to back chanpionsgip games. Excited to see how Collins does against this frontcourt. Been saying all tournament and all year whoever wins the West will win it all. Thought it would be Arizona second team was Gonzaga.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantWouldn’t be surprised if Gonzaga wins in a blow out

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantSo far, this is the most NBA styled and paced tournament final in recent memory. This has the makings of a wild one.

OhCanada-ParticipantRefs with a horrible foul on Collins. He went straight up on the contest. Now his 2nd foul.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantJackson needs to get it going for UNC. He looks a little sped up right now. I definitely thought he forced some questionable shots in the first half.
Likewise, karnowski has missed a lot of easy shots around the rim for gonzaga and hasn’t really been a factor so far.

llperezBoth teams very similar. Lots of size and experience and depth and talent at every position. But also both really average offensive teams. Not much explosive offensive ability either side.
Justin Jackson doesn’t seem that impressive of a pro prospect, reminds me of Wes Johnson. Can shoot it but I never feel real c Nfident it’s going in.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHe is light years ahead of Wes Johnson in terms of understanding and feel for the game. I actually like Jackson as an NBA prospect and think he could be a steal towards the end of the first round. I think on a good team he could be a solid role player for a long time. He actually seems like he would be a perfect fit on a team like the Spurs. Not sure what the chances of that happening are though.

Dog_ShammdogParticipantWes Johnson was a raw prospect despite being an underclass man. Jackson had a more refined game coming out of high school and has grown by leaps and bounds. He is one of the best off the ball players in the country and has the best midrange game. And it’s not like he’s lacking when it comes to his physical tools. I believe that ppl undervalue his athleticism as he is not a high flyer, but he moves well laterally and has a gray first step to go with his straight line speed. His lack of verticality hasn’t held him back and I don’t believe it will start to in the NBA. He has a fantastic build for a 2-way SG in today’s NBA and can guard multiple positions. I have him off the board by the 20’s

llperezwes johnson averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds his last year in college to go with close to 2 steals and 2 blocks per game. he was considered and elite prospect and went top 5. Hindsite is 20/20 but to say he was thought of as raw is not true.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/04/2017 - 4:28pm #1095100
D7H7NParticipantWes Johnson was a 23 year old senior who turned 24 before his rookie year. Very far from raw.
0- Posted on: Wed, 04/12/2017 - 2:15pm #1095484
Dog_ShammdogParticipantHe was a late bloomer with an unrefined offensive game that was only drafted as high as he was bc teams thought that he could further develop his offensive game. So I suppose youre right by saying he wasnt ‘raw’, but that was the hope. He had a meteoric rise late in his college career, so using his age as an example of his not being raw is a little bit of a misnomer

llperezGoss was doing good things on low box, they should try and get that going again.

llperezTerrible start to second half for zaga
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 4:39pm #1095031
OhCanada-ParticipantRefs are doing terrible! Collins 3rd foul was BS. Its not being called the same way on both sides of the floor and with Gonzagas bigs in foul trouble on paper they stand no chance. Once you get passive against this UNC frontcourt your screwed.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:03pm #1095034
OhCanada-ParticipantHiw many jumpshots does Jackson have to miss before he decides to drive.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:08pm #1095035
llperezI thought goss looked great first half but he’s been bad this second half. Berry now getting better of matchup
0- Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:13pm #1095039
OhCanada-ParticipantJackson has been gaurding him in the second half and is effectively taking him out of the game like ge did to Monk. Hes shown alot of defensive potential in this tournament despite having his shooting woes.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:37pm #1095042
OhCanada-ParticipantLooks like they shaved him right before the game.

llperezUnc getting the worse end of the calls this second half. Tilly traveled earlier with no call and now berryclean rip on karniwski ends up a foul on berry

OhCanada-ParticipantFans from both teams now chanting bullsh! t for good reason.

Reptilian MonkParticipantAdam Morrison sighting, looking like a sun burnt hippie surfer
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:25pm #1095041
CU.LIONSParticipant21 fouls called already in just the second half, with 8 minutes to go. and counting, These Refs think the game is about them, what a joke.
If these 3 are the so called best, what would the worst look like.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:40pm #1095043
Evan_MilbergParticipantWow. Meeks does it again. Clutch block followed by a clutch steal to effectively seal the game. He might be Sean May 2.0 in terms of weight, but after his play in the tournament, and especially the Final Four, I think he’s played his way into a late draft spot.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 5:40pm #1095044
OhCanada-ParticipantI honestly feel like this game was fixed. I know it sounds stupid because there were bad calls on UNC as well but theres a difference when Gonzagas bigs were in foul trouble all game. I will never accept UNC as 2017 champions. Sad story for Zach Collins. 4 terrible foul calls on him. He deserves to be pissed.
0- Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 7:06pm #1095053
SubZeroParticipantSaying it’s fixed is a huge claim but I agree in a way. People can call me a salty Kentucky fan but how have they never been in foul trouble in the big games in the tournament but our 3 best players all had 2 in the first 10 minutes and Collins get fouled out from 3 or 4 really bad calls?
Not to mention if you don’t think Nigel Williams-Goss was affected by turning his ankle, you weren’t paying attention. On top of all that, Gonzaga played seriously awful and they still almost won. It just doesn’t feel like UNC deserved it but oh well, it’s over now. I doubt they get back to the Final Four next year unless they get the same insane Golden State 2015-esque luck going again
0- Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 7:52pm #1095054
OhCanada-ParticipantIm not necassarily saying the game was fixed by the NCAA but I feel theres no way the refs can be that incompetent. They must have had an agenda. Collins got taken out of that game and if he was in the game NWG would not have had such a burden to carry and probally wouldnt have turned his ankle in the first place. Collins did nothing but dominate while he was on the floor.
And Gonzagas not going anywhere. They still have great young players like Rui Hachimora, Zach Norvell and Killian Tilley developing and after that type of ending to the season Im not to sure Goss or Follins will declare for the draft. Collins was so pissed when he fouled out.

airenn34ParticipantHow come nobody brings up last title game’s bad offciating as well. Villanova benefitted from a no call travel. Get over it dude. If it doesn’t go your way then it’s fixed. It’s unbelivable how people think nowadays. You could learn something from Gonzaga. A class program. Zach Collins can be lottery if he stays. Tony Bradley has stated he will test waters. He should get feedback and go back to UNC.

CU.LIONSParticipantOH well, no one will remember anything years later except a NC win. Except maybe Gonzaga fans.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/03/2017 - 6:01pm #1095047
D7H7NParticipantZach Collins looked great in his few minutes of action. Justin Jackson showed again that he is a streaky shooter but he was amazing on defense.

Robb_CParticipantIncredible Season!! Already doing my research for next year.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/04/2017 - 1:12am #1095059
Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantNot a great game overall. Both teams looked nervous and there were a lot of forced shots and questionable decisions. I thought the refs were absolutely terrible. These are 2 big and physical teams and I thought the refs should have taken that into consideration and allowed for a little more contact in general. The constant whistles destroyed the flow of the game and neither team ever really developed any sort of rhythm. There were also some pretty blantant calls that were missed as well and the flagrant on karnowski in the 2nd half was ridiculous.
Goss was starting to get in a rhythm toward the end of the second half. Him rolling his ankle was an absolute killer. I don’t think gonzaga scored another point the rest of the game after that happened.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/04/2017 - 1:31pm #1095095
Memphis MadnessParticipantBasketball games in domes can get really wired.
I only watched the second half, but there was no flow, sloppy basketball, and guys couldn’t get on a roll shooting the ball. Were the rims tight?
Overall: UNC is a top notch program. Possibly the best overall. Not one of their best teams, and no superstar. UNC might be even better in the future since they won this thing with very few McDonald’s All Americans. If they are able to recruit with the likes of Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas, watch out! We could see a mini dynasty coming from Chapel Hill.
Zags: do they keep up the momentum? Hope so. Great program! If Zach a Collins stays they look to be a Final Four caliber team again. A Bill Walton feel about this kid… A really good player to build around but I wouldn’t blame him if he goes pro. He can cash in NOW.

BeastMode716ParticipantTourny. They realized they have the most size & depth so they set a physical tone knowing the refs are control freaks & will start whistling everything that moves
Basic Math – UNC had more fouls to work with b/c of depth.
Very smart strategy by Roy Williams & I’m no Carolina fan. I was pulling for UCLA & last year I was pulling too hard for Nova.
I usually give Roy Williams are hard time but I feel like he was cagey smart this entire tounry.
