Lafferty DanielParticipantCheck out these highlights of Giannis Antetokounmpo keeping up with Kevin Durant. Giannis scored 13 points, 11 boards, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. It’s amazing how good this kid looks for being the youngest player in the association. He made Durant look foolish on a few plays.

Lafferty DanielParticipantThat block at 1:50 is why they call him the Greek Freak.

mattystarsParticipanti don’t think he’d ever be as good as KD but he has all the tools to be a Nic Batum type player but better
kid is a freak

Lafferty DanielParticipantBatum doesn’t have the tools that Giannis has. I’m not saying he’s going to be Durant. Nobody will. Giannis looks like he could be a star in the NBA. The Batum comp is selling him short in my opinion.

Mad MaxParticipantI think the comparison is more based on the type of player he’ll be rather than caliber. I would say he’ll be a rich man’s Nic Batum.

mattystarsParticipanti agree with that statement but im saying more along the lines of that Giannis is capable of having a triple double in any game like Batum, if he keeps improving like he currently is.. wow

he_gets_bucketsParticipantBatum doesnt have the same affinity for attacking the basket that Giannis has had so far in his time with the bucks. Everytime he gets the ball he attacks the hoop, for better or for worse, but its that aggresiveness that sets him apart from the Nic Batum comp, because IMO Batums aggresiveness, or lack thereof, on offense is what holds him back from living up to the contract he got.

B-ball fanParticipantWhen Giannis develops consistency on his jump shot, he will be pretty scary. He has made 39 of his last 45 free throws, so his shooting touch is showing improvement. He is already really good attacking the rim. He is shooting well around the basket for a rookie (57%) and gets to the free throw line tons (.465 free throw rate). When he handles the ball in transition, he really can force the defense to crowd the paint.
His midrange game is pretty ugly and he sometimes gets trapped in a crowd when he tries his baseline drive, but he looks like a dangerous slasher already. He plays for a really bad offensive team, but hopefully the Bucks gain some talent in the draft. If the Bucks get Wiggins, him and Giannis could become quite the duo in transition.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantCould easily be a star in a few years, I say his peak is prime AK-47

machu46ParticipantI think he can be a slightly better offensive player, but slightly worse defensive player, but yeah, people forget how great Kirilenko was at his peak (which was sadly at the age of 22…he dropped off very quickly).
AK47 averaged 16.5 points, 8 rebounds, 3 or 4 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks per game in his 3rd year. He was a great all-around player at a really young age.
As a Bucks fan, I haven’t been this excited about any player we’ve had in the past 10-20 years. I really hope we can add Wiggins to the roster in the draft and trot out a foursome of Wiggins, Giannis, Henson, and Larry.

jwall1ParticipantI think the Batum comparisons are on par. I think in the future he could be the 3rd/4th option on a championship team, not really a dominant scorer but a respectable one. He’s got the potential to have a big impact defensively and with the intagibles he possesses.

AmiableBaller34ParticipantI know I should be looking at this from the perspective of how Giannis should be trying to play like Durant, but after watching that video I couldn’t help but wish Durant tried as hard as Giannis does on D.

Ghost01Participant^^ Thought the same exact thing. Giannis’ will to defend is such a good thing for (I believe) the youngest player in the league.
No doubt his ceiling is crazy high. Not sure if the Scottie Pippen comps. or legit, because frankly I’m not sure there is anyone to compare him to hence why its hard to forecast what his production will look like at his peak.
The Bucks suck – and having he and in all liklihood a top 5 pick in this draft will be great building blocks.

omphalosParticipantIt makes me laugh watching Durant try to lock him down, Durant is not a great defender, and should be putting the rook in his place with his scoring, not his non-existent D.

For_Never_EverParticipantHis phyical profile judging by looks of his body he is going to put on more weight then Batum and Ak47, looks to be 6’10 or just right under, also he has more pep to his step and could be the better athlete then both. I watched one Bucks game, and I paided close attention to him knowing that he is a rooky. He really impressed with his defense and his game face attitude. The guy is looking like the steal of the draft.

jwall1ParticipantI would say that Henson and Brandon Knight are also glimmers of hope for them. Henson could be really good and Knight had a rough start (due to injury) but hes been playing pretty well lately and is still young.

Moon RiverParticipantI agree 100% MU BBFAN. I was excited about Knight, but that has evaporated. I was also on board with the Sanders signing, but am starting to doubt that. And….I really thought Larry Drew was a good hire, but now, not so sure.
Thank Kobe for GA and what better be a top 3 pick in this years draft.

HitsterParticipantWith Giannis and a fit John Henson, the Bucks have two potentially elite defenders which could be very useful going forward. For the youngest player in the NBA I fully agree that Giannis plays very good defence which will improve hugely as he develops both physically and as a player.
If he had been in the NCAA last season I expect he would have probably gone top 10 but the Bucks seem to have got a very good player at 15 in the draft.

Bmore_DCParticipantWhat a steal in the draft. I always liked his scouting report but never really seen him play. Great post. He actually reminds me a lot of Durant. Hes a LOT bigger than i thought and the sky really is the limit for this kid. If they can get Parker, Wiggins, or Embiib, the bucks have a nice young combo in the waiting.

Lafferty DanielParticipantQuotes from the article below:
"He played hard," Durant said. "He gave up his body for his team. I’d go to war with a guy like that any night."
"He’s going to be a treat to watch. He’s going to keep getting better and gaining experience. That’s the best thing for him, just to start him and let him play. He’s going to be really good."
