slash787ParticipantI was trying to come up with a comparison for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nicolas Batum came to mind. Giannis Antetokounmpo is actually 2 inches taller than Batum but they are similar builds and I can see him developing into a similar player to Batum.
Give me a player comparison for the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo….

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThey have similar build, process great length, great athletes, amazing wingspans and versatile..
But their games are totally different..Right now Batum is the better defender….Batum is more of a system player and at times struggles to create off the dribble…Giannis is the better creator, passer, better ball handler and has the potential to be the face of a franchise…..

SiggyParticipantPhysically he has more in common with KD with his height and length but his skill set is much different. I’d also say that at the same stage, Batum was the more impressive run/jump athlete (although Giannis can improve in this area with more strength training.) He’s not a pure scorer and he’s not a shooter (yet) at least, but he does have a good feel for the game and is more advanced than Batum was at the same stage in terms of ball-handling and playmaking. There really is no good comparison for Giannis because his skill set is so unique. Physically he lacks maturity and you can tell that he hasn’t been playing basketball his entire life, yet his ball skills and instinctual passing ability are very good for his level of experience. He still has yrs to establish what direction he wants to go as a player, but his base skill set is good. Like, he’s not currently a good shooter but he does show good touch. Also, he has shown solid instincts in the post but is not strong enough to establish his position there yet.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantHate to be the one to say this but that’s not exactly original. That’s the official NBADraft.net comparison…

B-ball fanParticipantGiannis is a really unique player given his situation, so there is no real obvious comparison, other than the Batum one that is always made. I think perhaps he has some similarities to AK-47 in his ability to use his athleticism all over the floor and make plays off-the-ball. It will be interesting to see how his off-the-dribble game develops, though, as Giannis seems more inclined to handle the ball. Perhaps an AK-47-Luol Deng hybrid could be a good future comparison for Giannis, but that is reaching a bit.
The thing is, Giannis has so little experience and so much talent and athleticism to go along with seemingly a great attitude that he is pretty much a blank slate. In five years he could be a point forward or a slashing combo-forward, and nobody will seem surprised. A lot depends on how Milwaukee develops him, because he is a really promising player in basically all aspects of the game, but hasn’t proven anything at a high level of competition.

B-ball fanParticipantLiving up to the AK-47 comparison on defense this game. Four blocks already in his first five minutes on the court, including a nice chase-down of Shabazz Muhammad.
