Gerald Green

I havent had access to the internet (nor the NBA at all) for a month now, so this topic may have been talked about already and excuse me if so.

First of all, that latest windmill-oop was just amazing and had me jumping out of my seat. He just did it with such ease, and he was a few good inches above the rim!!

www.youtube.com/watch

What I wanted to talk about though was this- He is obviously athletic as hell(probly jumps the highest in the league), but its not like he's James White. He's tall for the SG at 6'8 and long as well. He can also shoot and score very well. This year he's shooting 50% this year, 36% from 3, and has close to 4 rpg not to mention 1.1 steals, all in 24 minutes. He's got a 17.19 PER efficiency rating, which is more than players such as David West, Evans, Gay and Gerald Wallace.

So my question is- why has nobody wanted him for so long? Why is he not a good role player at least on some team? Not only can he score and shoot for your team, he also brings a lot of rating. (That video has 2.5 million views in less than a month)

Well, he was on the Celtics

Well, he was on the Celtics when they were a mess. Then he went to the T Wolves when they were a mess. Maybe that is it...

Or he has matured and is a better basketball player now. I hope he does well; he is extremely entertaining to watch and a great dunker.

Hopefully he can find his way onto the LA Clippers.

Failure is the best

Failure is the best motivation sometimes. He got rejected by multiple teams and wants to prove everyone who passed on him wrong.

It's his extreme lack of basketball iq. If the rule was in place when he came out he would of gone to osu and never would of been a first round pick. Lebryan Nash is a carbon copy.

Gerald Green would have been

Gerald Green would have been a first round pick and he and Lebryan Nash are totally different players. First of all, there will always be spots for world class athletes and scorers in the league. Gerald Green is both and has been both. His problem has always been defense and playing with the team. That most likely wouldn't have been found out at Oklahoma State, so he would have still been a first round pick, maybe gone higher.

Gerald Green came in the league as a 6'8 200 pound athletic player with great scoring potential. LeBryan Nash is 6'7 230, a good athlete but no where near Gerald Green's level. Lebryan nash Is a good defender when he wants to be, and a tough player who uses grit and above average athleticism to score. Hence the comparison to Ron Artest. Gerald Green's comparison was Tracy McGrady, need I say more.

He's always had the one on one abilities to be a good scorer, he just didn't know how to play with a team.

Are you implying that the Nets aren't currently a mess?

you say hes athletic as hell

you say hes athletic as hell but not like james white, i say his 45inch vert of two feet is much valuable to a player than 48 inch james white vert of one leg . so i give him advantage in athleticism. number are prolly off but not too far from truth.

He didn't take advantage of

He didn't take advantage of his opportunity with the Lakers... He was terrible when he played.

I still don't think he's that good. He's basically still the same player he was back in high school. He lacks IQ and fundamentals.

Gerald Green is the poster

Gerald Green is the poster child for why players can't be allowed to jump to the NBA from high school. Anybody remember Ndudi Ebi?

" Failure is best motivation"

" Failure is best motivation" 100 percent on the money.I watch a lot of Nets games and he is actually displaying his SKILLS rather than just athletism. I like guys who dont give up. It shows character. Look at a guy like Greg Stiemsma. He wasnt drafted played in the D- league and other countries and now he leads the league in blocks per minute. Even if he is a career back -up, that is still an acomplisment.

He has all the measurables

but in his hometown Houston Rick Adelmen called him the dumbest basketball player he ever coached, not in those words of course, but similar ones. He can shoot, jump and has great size for a two guard. I personally think it was syrup or w33d that had him bouncing around the D League for a couple years.

If a guy can shoot, jump, and dunk how can a coach not figure out how to use that guy?

He has all the tools to be an All-Star, but he lacks the mushy stuff between you ears, called a brain. Or he must have attitude problems cause he is a great talent and just needs a chance, hopefully the Nets will stick w/ him.

Gerald Green

Gerald Green is just like 10,000 other players who never worked hard enough to to stay in the NBA. At best all he will ever be is a disappointment as compared to his physical gifts.

i wouldnt say that in those

i wouldnt say that in those words. for one thing his physical gifts are so great that if his game is in the same level he'll be in durants class. that means even if he improves by leaps and bounds from where he was when he was drafted or left the league, if he doesnt attain All-NBA team level, your assesment will still be true.

gerald green to me is a player that had to go through so many hard things to be able to be in the right path which he is in right now i believe. i can still see him improving steadily in the next few years and very good come back story to the league. but i dont see him winning MIP at a late age . he'll probably plateu when he's 29 to 31, not because he wont be capable of adding more to his game, but rather at that age he'll already know what he does well on the court and what he doesnt and wont try to do more than he can.

You are way over-selling Green bigtime. Green is a fringe player and with hardwork can make some money in the NBA... however no one will ever erect a statue of him.

The guy dropped 32 today on

The guy dropped 32 today on the Cavs, he's gonna get quite a nice payday this offseason from the Nets because of his late form.

I doubt the Nets get him. He

I doubt the Nets get him. He gonna be pushing for a decent payday as you stated, but the Nets have Brooks as the future SG. Another team with a need at SG will offer more imo. Possibly MIN, CLE, CHA (for selling tickets with his flair), maybe Boston again.
