festar35ParticipantFirst off let me say i am extremely happy with this acquisition, with that sais what sort of impact do you think he will have on the Pacers? Potential to be a very good 6th man?

I May Be WrongParticipantHe is already a great 6th man IMO and truthfully, if Darren Collison doesn’t make strides, then Geroge Hill can be a potential starter in this league. The Pacers need patience but I like what they are doing. If they can trade Granger for Kevin Martin to upguard the 2 and move Paul George at 3 or trade Granger for a PF, then I think they will have a great lineup.

bigballinjdgParticipantAs a huge pacer fan there is no way I would trade Granger for Kevin Martin. Also, wouldve much rather have kept kawhi and the 42nd pick than trade for George Hill. Hill is nothing better than a tweener sixth man and really feel Leonard can be a solid starting SF.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHave you been watching San Antonio the last few years? Hill is already a very good sixth man. He’s even been good in a starting role while filling in for Tony Parker. At one point, they were saying Parker was replaceable because of Hill’s play.
Hill isn’t a tweener. He’s a combo guard. He isn’t a pure point guard, but he has shown he’s capable of playing and defending both backcourt positions.
Hill did what he had to do in San Antonio to fit the system, but I think we’ll see more of what he’s capable of with the Pacers. Great pickup. He’s better than people realize and Collison will be pushed significantly.

PulseGlazerParticipantHill is a very, very good player. Great defender, good offense off the bounce or spotting up, and the Pacers have Granger and George at the wings. I don’t see how this is anything but a smart deal for both sides.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think it was a smart deal for the Spurs.
– Leonard is a great rebounder and plays hard, but he’s a tweener. I don’t see the offensive skill. I don’t know how he fits in with the Spurs.
– Paker gets injured every season and Ginobli does too. Hill was a very good backup and fill in starter at both of those spots.
– The Spurs were high on Hill. I lost count of how many times I heard he was Poppovich’s favorite player. They were shopping Parker because of Hill. And IF you watched any Spurs games the last season or two, you’d know that Poppovich had Hill on the floor when games mattered in crunch time and he defended the other team’s best guard.
RC Buford is great at what he does, but not even he is immuned for head scratching moves.

juslistinParticipantYour perceptions of George Hill is true, he does fill in for an injured Manu or Parker and plays exceptionally well, but I think this was good move for the Spurs, as much as they needed George Hill as their primary 6th man and back up man, I know that the Spurs having their success of picking up players in the later rounds and developing them into solid players is one of their best qualities, and a player like Leonard I believe would fit perfectly into Poppovich’s system, a hardworking rebounding defensive oriented player. I’m sure Poppovich can develop Leonard into a shut down defender and wing man, because of his physical attributes. Coming out of college no one knew who George Hill was and look what Poppovich did with him, same to guys in the past like Bruce Bowen becoming a shut down defender. Leonard has more physical tools then Bowen, he will never be Bruce Bowen but under Poppovich’s coaching and development he can become a key gem in this league as a defensive rebounding forward who also can occasionally hit the open 3. Bad move on the Pacers trading for George Hill.
