Worjanowski is a very credible source, so if he says that it’s not a done deal, I’ll believe it, but what surprised me is that Worjanowsi said that Houston was very close to pulling a deal off. I would assume it would be along the lines of Pau for Lowry, and either Martin or Scola, or quite possibly niether, and maybe the Lakers were so desperate for a point, that they took back raw young guys like Budinger, and Terrence Williams, and Johnny Flynn. But we can’t come to any conclusions until anything is final.

Unless its a three team deal Lowry wont be involved since he is you know, in Toronto, and ya know, the Lakers have Steve Nash now.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Lakers front office telling people that "nothing is happening" with Pau Gasol, league sources say. For now, anyway. Twitter

This deal isn’t true. I forget his name, Larry or something, of ESPN asked a VERY credible source and said nothing is going as of now…

But it does mark another step along the way to a more complete, more mature player. Perhaps Rondo’s career is a bit like running up a big sand dune. Every stride brings progress, and then a little slide. The key, though, is to keep going, and realize that it is a lot of hard work and a bit of frustration to get to where you need to be.

John Lucas III will be filling the same role in Toronto that he did in Chicago. Lucas will be waiting for his opportunity to play because of injuries or trades, but Casey acknowledges the veteran point guard’s skills fit with the Raptors’ style of play.

“We have what we consider glue players,” Colangelo said. “Guys like Landry Fields might be that piece that brings players together. He plays hard every possession on the court, but he is also the kind of guy that is very personable and jovial off the court. He has a little personality and I think our room lacked some of that last year.”

“The bottom line with Jonas (Valanciunas) is I think you are going to see a young player who is going to have an impact regardless of what he does stat-wise this year,” Colangelo said. “I think it is going to be hard for the coach to keep him off of the floor because of the things he brings to the table.”

“A couple of weeks after surgery, it really wasn’t an [issue] to be honest,” said Griffin about recovering from the knee procedure. “Even when there was a little swelling, I still felt normal.”

The Clippers are taking their very first steps toward what they expect to be a strong season, without concern that Griffin will be hindered in any way from his almost-forgotten offseason knee surgery.

Lamar Odom, historically, shows up to camp in “medium” shape and works himself in through camp and the early part of the season. His best year with the Los Angeles Lakers was when he played summer ball with Team USA.

The team also needs for Jordan to improve at the free throw line, where he’s been a liability throughout his young career.

Facing elimination, Drew proved less cautious and Horford played 41 minutes in Game 5, recording 19 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists. In Game 6 in Atlanta, which ended the Hawks’ season, 83-80, Horford played 46 minutes and posted 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting with nine rebounds.

Watkinson represents just one small part of new general manager Danny Ferry’s makeover of the organization. The others include new assistant coaches and almost an entirely new corps of players. At times, he has lent a hand in explaining Drew’s concepts to his new teammates. That has made Horford, in his sixth season, something of an elder statesman.

But that doesn’t mean O’Neal has to keep bringing it up. Just sit back and relax, Shaq. You did yours, and we respect that. But nobody has to hate Howard to love you.

Scott has offered nothing but praise for the backup point guard, acquired in an offseason trade (with a second-round pick, for D.J. Kennedy).
