BiggysmallsParticipantI was really hoping GS would win tonight and Draymond would get Finals MVP but if they do win tonight, hard to not see Thompson getting it maybe on this game alone.
Man the Cavs are pummeling GS on the glass.
Also…Irving is ridiculous.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIf Cleveland hangs on and wins this game, kyries performance tonight has to go down as one of the legendary performances in NBA finals history given the circumstances.
Lebron ain’t been too shabby either lol. So far they have combined for 82 points. I bet you won’t hear critiscm of them playing too much iso ball after this one.

doubledribblerParticipantYou know the two points don’t bother me as much as being so passive. He didn’t look for his shot or try to create anything. At least rebound. Grab a loose ball. Right now he’s a glorified inbounder. I’m thinking Lue doesn’t want to give up on him because once he does he is completely done, but there is nothing to lose. He got killed on the boards the previous game by Varajeo which I feel turned the game quite a bit. He’s still getting beat defensively. I know you can’t give all of his minutes to Jefferson, but I would consider Mozgov or Frye for those minutes. If you’re going to get beat you might as well get someone that is going to give you something. You can’t expect two more 80+ point games from Lebron and Irving.

BiggysmallsParticipantIs Curry the most valuable player on his own team? Honestly, I know he’s an amazing shooter but how the hell did that dude get the most valuable player award unanimously? As an aspiring sports writer, I like to think most of those guys are smart. Do they just not understand basketball? Are they too lazy to actually think about it? What am I missing?
He’s hidden on the opposing team’s worst offensive player every series, he’s turning the ball over and if his shot isn’t falling he’s a decoy.
He’s a good player but does anybody seriously think he’s the most valuable player to his team in the league?
Also…I can’t wait until Harry Barnes gets a 4-year 80-90 million dollar contract this offseason and everyone loses their minds

Reptilian MonkParticipantAgreed The MVP award is looked at to much as an offensive award. Curry is the best offensive player in the game but he is not a great defender where half of the possesions are played. Two way players are more valuable to their teams as they affect both sides of the ball. Lebron has probably been the most valuable and best all around player in the game on both sides of the ball for the last 6-7 years. I’d argue somone like Kawhi Leonard is a better all around more valuable player than somone like Steph.

J-rueMykelParticipantThis guy just had the kind of offensive year that we haven’t seen, ever. He crushed HIS 3pt record, averaged over 30 a game and put up effiency numbers that are off the charts. HE ALSO LED THE LEAGUE IN STEALS. I’ll concede that steals aren’t the end all be all for defense, but I’ll be damned if Gary Payton didn’t make All NBA defense year after year garnering the most steals, it’s not like the glove could guard multiple positions, and if you’re going to make the case that Steph is hidden on the opposing teams worst offensive player, I’ll laugh at you. Usually the other team’s worst offensive player is their center, obviously Steph can’t guard bigs, so he’s stuck guarding the lesser of two evils in the backcourt for larger percentage of the game. How soon we forget when Steph gave RWB some trouble in the WCF defensively. Obviously he isn’t blessed with the kind of size necessary to lock top tier guys up, but he is intelligent, quick, and has other world anticipatory skills. He’s not a negative defender by any means. Steph got rewarded for having the best season, the MVP has always been a beauty contest, or else Jordan would have won it 10 times and LBJ would be going in his 10th or so by now. The voters are creating story lines so they can write about. This knee-jerk, negative society we’ve created is getting really ugly. Guy is injured, hobbling around, trying his best to make shots and some games they aren’t going his way and ya’ll want to discredit a historic season. Shame for the shade you’re throwing. Steph has helped make basketball even more fun that it already was, and you want to crucify him because he’s hurt, and not performing at the level you expect him to. When he’s draining 27 footers with a hand in his face going 12-19 with 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, yes he is the MVP. When he’s having an off night, no probably not. Can we talk about LBJ’s game 4 now and discredit his whole career because of it???

SubZeroParticipantI agreed with you until you said he’s injured and “hobbling around.” Are people even watching? At worst, he’s 90% but I don’t think he’s injured at all. People just wanna say he’s injured to reason with themselves why he’s not playing like he has all year. People that say that are either bandwagon Twitter warrior fans who don’t know anything about basketball and say “we” when referring to the Warriors even though they’re from New Jersey, or you just haven’t watched. He essentially disappeared last year in last year’s Finals compared to the rest of his season, so what’s to say he’s not just doing it again?
His own words, two whole series and almost an eternity ago: “I’m here. I’m back.” I’m not giving him any excuses

J-rueMykelParticipantI don’t neccessarily disagree that the injury might be being blown a little out of proportion; however injuries linger and minutes take they’re toll, he’s missing wide open shots and thats not normal, even a slight discomfort goes a long way towards throwing your game off.
As for your disappeared comment, even as a distraction or decoy he still brings immense value towards giving other guys space to work with, without Steph, Klay would get more attention and so on. He didn’t dissapear in game 4, which was the game that turned the tides of the series, game 5 did the same thing.
And Steph is a man, he’s not going to make excuses, I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was making an excuse. I was just saying looking at 5 game sample size, one of which he was clearly the most dominant player on the floor isn’t big enough to discredit what he has done this season.

halfdecayedParticipantI think Klay is more valuable than Curry for the team because he can actually play good defense and allows Curry to chill on defense and save his energy. No idea how he got unanimous MVP, that’s idiotic to me.. When his shots not falling, what’s he doing? I don’t know how people watching these finals can say that he’s better than Lebron, that is absurd lol.. There’s nothing Lebron doesn’t do.. 41 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assist, 3 steals, 3 blocks.. damn son

NickWayne87ParticipantYall see Curry ISNT better than Lebron. More fun to watch during the regular season? Yeah. Better? I missed that bandwagon. He WAS unanimous MVP tho i will admit that. The team beat a record that seemed UNTOUCHABLE while he led the league in scoring while making ridiculous BAD shots at a high perecentage while breaking his own individual 3pt shooting records as well. He was MVP and EVERYONE could see that so EVERYONE voted for him. Simple as that.

GronounoursParticipantSeeing how opinions voiced on forums change according to last night’s game is annoying.
Curry had an extraordinary regular season, his MVP award is 100% deserved. He was trully awesome, and saying the contrary is silly. Doesn’t mean he deserves the finals MVP though, but that’s another problem.

BiggysmallsParticipantI’ve long been on the Kevin Love bandwagon and I’ve long thought his struggles in Cleveland were due to misuse more than his shortcomings…then game 5 happened.
He was just along for the ride. For God’s sakes, Tristan Thompson had a bigger impact on the game. At least he draws fouls on all of GS’s bigs by crashing the glass.
It’s amazing to me that a guy who averaged 25-13 on a team that fought for a playoff spot in the West has become this. KLove is broken.
