Singler25ParticipantHey guys,I have a question about Furkan Korkmaz and his draft status. On nearly every mock draft, he is a mid first round pick in 2016.I always thought international players have to be 19 old when they become eligible for the NBA Draft. As this years draft will be held on the 23rd of June, and he his birthday is 6/27/97 , he won’t be 19 on draftday. Is he eligible because of the year of birth (1997) ? Or is it the month that makes it possible?0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/04/2016 - 8:52pm #1041005
CoolidgerParticipantI believe the rule is he would have to be 19 years of age by the start of the NBA regular season, not by draft night.

TeslaBallerParticipantAs long as you turn 19 during the calendar year of the draft your eligible.
Setting an arbitrary date like draft day or season opener wouldn’t be fair, as those dates change almost yearly.

r377ParticipantFurkan Korkmaz is a really good player, he could end up lottery or top 10 pick…..
