dmo21ParticipantI heard this yesterday when I was watching the Raptors/Wolves game. If Ricky Rubio ends up winning the ROY award, he would be the 3rd person to win it from the 2009 draft class, joining Tyreke Evans and Blake Griffin. This would be a very odd thing to happen that will probably never happen again.

TallmanNYCParticipantHa ha. That is a fun fact!
Seriously, that would be a very odd thing and I’m sure it will never happen again. Also, considering the way Rubio is playing, he has to the favorite for ROY right now. Right now it looks like he will average near 10 assists a game (with many being of the "Sportscenter" variaty), while scoring 10 – 14 points and also picking up at least a steal and a half (and I bet in the second half of the season when he is a little more comfortable, he will start gambling and will increase those steals a bit). Couple that with the Wolves winning a lot more games and you have a very strong ROY candidate.

mikeyvthedonParticipantStill rolling with Kyrie Irving, though. I know he has had mad detractors on this board, but he is playing pretty damn well early on. Cleveland is 4-4 and he already looks like their best player. I for one liked him more than any other prospect in the past draft and other than two poor shooting contests against Toronto, of all teams, he is shooting over 50% in his 6 other games. He has a great head on his shoulders and is really efficient, especially given the fact that so many people ragged on him for missing all of those games due to injury last year.

TallmanNYCParticipantWhoops. Forgot about Irving this morning. Yeah, he has to be the favorite right now. But we should all start getting used to seeing Rubio highlights on Sportscenter several times a week. And don’t discount the advantage of free advertising like that.
